NORMAN BRUCE INGRAM It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Norman Bruce Ingram on June 5, 2014 at Concordia Hospital. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Kathleen (Kay), of 66 years, son Neil (Susan), daughter Lynn (Jeff) Reimer, grandchildren Brian Ingram, Heather Ingram (fiancé Mike Young), Scott (Christine) Hay, Graeme Ingram, Melanie Reimer, great-grandson Dallas Hay, siblings Nessie Morrison, Alan (Sonja), Doug (Jean), Margaret (Ron) Hughesman, sisters-in-law Gloria Ingram and Irene Ingram, brother-in-law Ken Townsend, and many nieces and nephews. Bruce was predeceased by his son Boyd, parents Jane and Adam, brothers George, Ed and Kenny, sister Betty Townsend, sister-in-law Jean Ingram, and brother in-law Clayton Morrison. Dad was born on October 5, 1925 in Winnipeg and moved to Ridgeville, MB as a young boy. The family moved back to Winnipeg and resided on Government Avenue in Morse Place where he met Mom, living right across the street. At the age of 17 and a half, Dad joined the Navy and served during the Second World War on a destroyer that escorted troop and supply convoys across the Atlantic to England, and later patrolled the Thames River. Dad and Mom corresponded during the war and upon Dad's return they courted and were married on July 3, 1948, residing in Saskatoon. They returned to Winnipeg a few years later where they raised their family in East Kildonan. Bruce was employed as a commercial traveler with various companies, travelling throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Northwest Ontario. Dad loved sports including billiards and curling. He was an active member for many years at Rossmere Golf and Country Club and with the A.C.T. where he made many life-long friends. He enjoyed family crib games, family reunions at the lake and his famous barbeques for family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed watching baseball, football, hockey and curling. "Brushie", as many knew him, was also known for teasing and having pet names for many who were close to him. Dad held a special place in his heart for each of his children and grandchildren commonly known as "Ace", "Peanuts", "Tiki Tiki", "Cowboy", "Mini", "Big Shooter", and most recently "Dallas - The Kid". Many hours were spent encouraging and cheering for his family in any sport or challenge they chose to take on. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Darcy Johnson for his excellent care and friendship over the years and to the staff at Concordia Hospital, N1 South for their care and compassion during Dad's stay in the hospital. In respect of Bruce's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A reception in celebration of Bruce's life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice "This is a journey we all must take, And each must go alone, It's part of the Master Plan, A step on the road to home." 204-586-8044
