SIDNEY JOHN CURTIS
Born: Aug 15, 1916
Date of Passing: Jun 09, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySIDNEY JOHN CURTIS August 15, 1916 - June 9, 2014 After a well lived, happy, healthy life of 97 years, peacefully on June 9, 2014 our loving dad, grandpa, GG and uncle passed away with family at his side. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and sister, his loving wife Edna, son Sidney Jr. and son-in-law Brian. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Sharron Chalmers, daughter-in-law Florence Curtis, grandchildren; John (Natacha), Jennifer, Roseanne (Mike) and Robert, great-grandchildren Andrea, Ashley, Caslyn, Brady, Jessica, Stephanie, Joseph and Zackary and nieces and nephews. Sid and Edna were married January 8, 1938 and made Blenheim Avenue in Winnipeg their home for 48 years, where they raised their two children. Sid was fortunate enough to retire in 1977 from the Brewers Distributors Ltd, giving him more years in retirement than actual years worked. Way to go Gramps! Fishing with his buddy Herman was a favourite pass time that provided much enjoyment and reading kept his mind sharp and active. His positive nature will truly be missed and has left an everlasting impression on all those who were fortunate enough to know and love him. "Happy Hour" will never be the same Grandpa. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Riverview Health Centre for the amazing care and compassion he received in his final days. A celebration of life will be held at Coutu Funeral Home on Friday June 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., 680 Archibald Street, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Sid may be made to a charity of one's choice. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO.
