Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERNA ANNE PALMER Surrounded by love, dignity and understanding, Erna Anne (Nan) Palmer peacefully passed away at Riverview Health Centre on June 6, 2014, with her family by her side. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Lisa (Bruce); sons Greg (Todd) and Robb; and granddaughters Jasmyn and Maya. She will also be missed by her brother Jack (Gail) and loving sister Marilyn. Nan has left us to join her husband Martyn, her son David and parents Myrtle and Bert. Nan was born on December 7, 1933 in Brandon, MB, and spent most of her childhood in Brandon and Dominion City. In high school, Nan was a dedicated student, excelled academically and involved in numerous school clubs. She attended the University of Manitoba where she graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. Over the years she worked in a variety of pharmacies and enjoyed her career immensely. Her greatest joy was raising her four children and watching their accomplishments. Family was always a highlight and in her later years, her granddaughters brought her great joy. Later in life, Nan was fortunate enough to spend her winters in Mesa, AZ, where she resumed her love of bowling, sang in the choir and enjoyed social gatherings with friends. Nan was a keen Bridge player, an avid reader and was never without a stack of books. Throughout her life, Nan faced adversity with grace and courage. She was fiercely independent and strived valiantly to maintain that spirit to the end. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road, with interment to follow at Thomson "In the Park" Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. We wish to sincerely thank the staff on unit CD-3 at Riverview for their patience, compassion, and care of Nan. We also thank Sheryl for being the highlight of mom's week. Their weekly visits and outings were a great source of companionship and comfort for Nan. A special thank you to Louisa, her hairdresser, for going above and beyond to make Nan feel special. If friends so desire, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba and CancerCare Manitoba. Greg, Lisa and Robb, I was sorry to learn of your mother's death. She was a great supporter of all of you and David. I was fortunate to get to know her through your band activities and shared some good times with her chaperoning band trips. My thoughts are with you.
