CONRAD (CONNIE) LAMB It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Conrad (Connie) Lamb of Camp Morton, Manitoba, while walking his dog K-Lee on April 21, 2014. He leaves behind his wife, partner and best friend of 48 years, Nancy. He met Nancy while flying into Cross Lake, she was the nurse at the nursing station there-love at first sight! His brother Greg (Verna), sister Phyllis. The youngest of nine children, he was predeceased by his parents Tom and Jenny; brothers Dennis, Donald (Bev), Jack, and Doug and sisters, Carol (Jock) and Sheila (Jim). He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all his nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law, Barb, Vasti, Robin and Marion. Conrad was a pilot, sailor, grader operator, dragline operator-worked at the opening of the Stall Lake mine, farmer at the 7-L ranch at Moose Lake, captaining the Skippy L up and down the Saskatchewan River to the farm and Moose Lake. Sporting Goods store owner, "honey wagon" owner and operator, grader operator for the Manitoba Government, big truck hauler. and author of his book, "Tractor Train to Bush Plane". He loved Canada and took part in the opening up of the north, before there were roads, telephones or Internet by being a bush pilot for his family business LambAir. He and his brothers were honoured in 2007 for his Pioneering Spirit in helping to Develop the Territories Through Aviation'. Con was a member of the Masonic Lodge after his retirement, he also enjoyed making furniture for family and friends including two sailboats. Connie and Nancy enjoyed travelling most winters to different areas of Canada and other parts of the world and sailing his latest sailboat, the "Sea Change 2" on Lake Winnipeg. He loved his Yacht club and fellow sailors there. He had more stories to tell than could fill 10 books! His flying stories from the Arctic, hunting, fishing, travelling and sailing stories, and most stories had pictures to go with them as he always had his camera with him and used it. A master story teller at best. His garage was his happy place. Listening to his cassettes, records, 8-tracks, CDs', and newest, his iPad. Working on his latest wood project, reading his sailing and flying magazines, doing all with a warm fire on and K-Lee by his side. Conrad and Nancy were only back five weeks from their winter vacation in Texas, it was too soon, they still had so much to do and see. Their pets were major in their lives, from the dogs, Brandy, Casi, then Hitler and a few Mikes, Arthur and K-Lee, to the cats Sam, and Mr. McGarrity. The happiest guy around, we will all miss you. A memorial service will be held at Gimli Lutheran Church, 50 3rd. Avenue on June 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception following in the church hall. Nancy would like to express her heartfelt thanks to all the neighbours and friends for all their kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Conrad's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or The Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. The Lamb family were the best pilots that flew us in the north, while I was with Manitoba Hydro. Only flew once with Connie but Greg, Dennis & Donald - Were a fine family. My prayers go to the Lamb family. - Posted by: Jules Sureau. Surrey B.C ( Retired Surveyor of 60 years.) (Man.Hydro. Surveyor 1959-1970. Thompson to Lynn Lake. " No Notigi Camp") on: Jul 24, 2014

Nancy: Just heard about Connie's death from cousin Robin today. We are so sorry for your loss. We remember him as a great guy who my Dad was very fond of, having visited in The Pas many years ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time in your life. Love -- Joyce and Doug Millard - Posted by: Doug and Joyce Millard (cousin of Nancy's) on: Jun 22, 2014

Mom (Jo) had her first airplane ride with Connie's dad, Tom, when he flew her from The Pas to Norway House in 1946. At one point Tom put his feet up on the console and settled in to read the newspaper, Mom asked who was flying the plane. Tom said God was and she trusted completely they would arrive safely. Later, based on that shared memory, Mom was hired to work for Lambair when she and my father returned to The Pas to live. Mom often saw Connie and Nancy at Clearwater Lake at cottage time. We will remember Connie for his big smile and wave hello whenever we passed by on the lake road. We will also remember there were always dogs around the cottage. I particularly remember his kindness to my mother, Jo. Blessings Nancy from Juanita - Posted by: Juanita Giesbrecht, daughter of Jim and Jo Sheane (Family Friends) on: Jun 15, 2014
