IRENE GREGOIRE (DELORME)
Born: Nov 04, 1930
Date of Passing: Jun 20, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE GREGOIRE (nee DELORME) With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dearest mother, Irène, on June 20, 2014. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Rémi of 58 years, her children Marcel (Donna), Madeleine (Gordon), Paulette (Victor) and Donald (Janet), her 12 grandchildren, her 10 great-grandchildren, her one great-great-grandchild, her brothers Henri, Jean-Noël and Robert, and her sisters Jeanne, Berthe, Eveline, Lorraine, Eva and Alice. She was predeceased by her parents Euclide Delorme and Julia Delorme (nee Parent), her brothers Leonard, Leonide, Ulysse, René and Clovis (who died at infancy), and her sister Agnes. Mom was born on November 4, 1930 and raised on a farm near St. Joseph, Manitoba along with her 15 siblings. She was the fifth oldest of the family. She married Rémi Grégoire on July 16, 1955 and moved to a farm near St. Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba where she raised her four children. Mom worked hard all her life, on the farm in the fields with Dad, making her own bread, canning vegetables and fruits, maintaining her huge garden, and always ensuring her family was well taken care of and fed. Mom also worked as a Health Care worker at a nursing home in Otterburne and later at the Repos Jolys in St. Pierre-Jolys. Mom and Dad retired from farming and moved to Winnipeg for a number of years. They enjoyed city life and made several friends. Mom became a member of a Windsor Park social club. She carried out volunteer work at the St. Boniface Hospital, for which she was recognized for her several years of service. She also became a member of the YMCA. She always enjoyed helping people and being with people, and she had a way of talking to anyone and making them feel at ease. Mom had a heart of gold. Two years ago Mom and Dad moved to the Chalet Malouin in St. Malo, Manitoba. Mom surmounted many health challenges throughout her life, due to her strong convictions and faith, but now God saw how very tired she was, and called her Home. We as her children were truly blessed to have her as our mom. In our eyes she was one of the best! She taught us to love, to have strength and patience, to have faith, and to care. She conveyed to us the necessary lessons of life to become the successful individuals that we are today. Thank you Mom for all that you have given us. We shall never forget you. You will always be in our hearts. Until we meet again Mom. A big thank you to all the health care workers at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach and at the Desalaberry District Health Centre in St. Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba, for the compassionate care they provided to Mom. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 25 at the St. Pierre-Jolys Parish. The Eulogy will be at 1:45 p.m. and the mass will follow at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Condolences may be sent to www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca. Desjardins 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
