Ah - have just heard the news (four years later) from Uncle John (Payne) that Aunty Pat went a while back. Onward one hopes. My mother (Audrey) knew her cousin Pat very well - they were close childhood playmates and remained in close contact though separated by the Atlantic. Pat came over to London and Billericay quite a few times and Audrey went to see her in Winnipeg Beach. So sorry for your loss Laurie and Heather. Then there was nice Aunty Fluff (Florence Day) who remained very friendly with Winnie Payne (my grandmother). Laurie do you remember listening to Sgt Pepper when it first came out - and playing The Fifth single, (a good Canadian band)? And do you know I still think tearfully of Karen quite often - she was such a sweet little thing. Well "Ta-ta Mates" and "Dear Mum, I am sending you five bob but not this week." as Uncle Johnny (Edward) Walker would say. Get/Keep in touch and keep playing that banjo. You should be like Earl Scruggs by now! Mark Roberts - Cousin Audrey's son - Posted by: Mark Roberts (Cousin) on: Nov 13, 2018

Heather and Laurie, so sorry to hear of "Aunty" Pat's passing. Have so many childhood memories of her and "Uncle" Ben. One that sticks in my mind was when relatives came to visit from England and we all went over to your house to meet them. When it got dark we went out in the yard to watch the Northern Lights. - Posted by: Ruth Arnold (friend) on: Jun 29, 2014
