ROLAND STEFFAN Roland Steffan died at the age of 93 years on May 28, 2014 in Winnipeg. A graduate of the Winnipeg School of Art in the 1930s, Roland had a long and successful career as a commercial artist in his own firm Advertising Artists. An avid gardener, fitness enthusiast, ballroom and square dancer, he also enjoyed spring, summer and autumn weekends at a cottage in the Whiteshell area, achieving a Manitoba Master Angler award. A devoted husband and loving father, he also helped his mother until her death in her 101st year. He was also a fine art painter of landscapes and animals. Roland was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, his parents August and Martha, his brother Rodney and sister Ruth. He is survived by his son Ronald (Sandra), three grandchildren Christopher, Gwendolyn and Paul, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the staff at Tuxedo Villa for their fine care of Roland in his final year. Roland's ashes have been buried next to those of his wife Nathalie in Waverley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Waverley Street, Winnipeg. Funeral arrangements handled by Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home.

My condolences to all on the loss of Roland. I do not remember him well but was often entertained by my mother's stories. My mother just passed away in April but I am sure she would have wanted to say something about Roland and Nattie. Ron, your family came alive in my mothers story telling of growing up with uncle Gus and the rest of the Steffan family.
