Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGUDRUN (RUNA) HALLSON (THORGILSSON) (nee BERGTHORSON) With sadness we announce the death of Runa Hallson on the morning of Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home with her children at her side. Runa was born in Lundar, Manitoba, to her loving parents, Petrina and John Bergthorson. She was predeceased by her beloved first husband, Arnor Thorgilsson in 1967, and her second devoted husband, John Hallson in 1993. She was also predeceased by her brothers Oli (Dorothy), Albert (Virginia), and Mickey, and her sister Mina (Fred), sister-in-law Margaret Danielson and her beautiful grandson Hal Jon, as well as twins Runa and Inga, and other members of the Hallson family. Left forever to cherish her memory are her children Ellen (Bob), Fred (Diane), Joanne (Richard), Pat (David), Lorne (Gloria) and Darlene. Also happy to have shared her life and are saddened by her loss are many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Runa will be remembered by her brother John Bergthorson, brother-in-law Len Danielson, sisters-in-law Irene Bergthorson and Leona Hallson along with many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends in Iceland share our sorrow. Runa leaves a legacy of many beautiful memories. She was always very proud of her Icelandic heritage. She spoke, wrote and read beautiful classic Icelandic. In 2004 she was made an honorary member of the Icelandic National League for her contributions to the Icelandic community. Her many trips to Iceland and her close ties with relatives there have enriched the tapestry of our lives. Whether in the Commissary in Port Radium, N.W.T., or in their first store in Austin, or in their stores in Ashern, Runa always worked diligently along with Arnor. Some years after Arnor's death, a new chapter opened in her life. She met and married John Hallson and moved back to their hometown of Lundar. During their happy years together they made a lovely home welcoming family and friends with open arms. They enjoyed becoming a part of the community and relished their many trips to Iceland, Mexico, Florida and the cottage near Kenora, ON. We will always be grateful for the loving kindness she showered on all of us. We will ever cherish her lovely smile, her creative needlework, her special recipes and her care and concern for others. Her spirit lives on and she will forever be held in warm and loving memory. A special thank you goes to Louise and those at Tuxedo Villa who were exceedingly kind to Runa. Heaven gained a special angel. Goda Nott Elskan A Memorial Service celebrating Runa's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Lundar Lutheran Church with Rev. Bob Hamlin officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Runa's memory to the Lundar Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 216, Lundar, MB, R0C 1YO or to a charity of your choice.
