  • I knew Kent *Yabba* briefly back in the '80s - his sense of humor was spectacular and I appreciated his friendship greatly. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I was looking at my photos of him that he gave me from back then, and thought of him from that time. My condolences to his wife and family - may he rest in peace. - Posted by: Lisa (Friend) on: Sep 15, 2018

  • Kent and I first met as competitors in the fire alarm industry. He later came to work for me and was a very good tech and a good guy, always willing to help. We hadn't seen it each other much over the years but did run into each on various jobs. Kept saying we should get together for lunch and catch up.....You will be missed. Condolences to his family. - Posted by: Randy Chester (Former boss at Chubb Fire Security) on: Jul 13, 2014

  • I met Kent when he first started school here way back in the sixties. He was always a happy and just plain nice guy. He was a little shy in his younger days but always had that everlasting smile on his face. I can see from the other tributes that throughout his life that smile never disappeared and his friendly nature touched many others. My sincerest condolences to your entire family. Yabba you will be fondly remembered ... - Posted by: Gloria husband (old friend) on: Jul 09, 2014

  • Karen and Carly...my condolences to you both on the loss of your husband and best friend Karen and to you Carly on the loss of your father. I didn't have the privilege of knowing Kent but the fact that he had you 2 girls speaks volumes. Take some time to remember all the good times and store them away. When you need him...just hold your hand over your heart and he will be there to carry you through. - Posted by: Cindy Laye (past co -worker to Karen from United Grain Growers) on: Jul 08, 2014

  • I met Kent back circa early 80’s during what was one of my (and his) first jobs out of high school – National School Services. I still remember when we first met and I learned of his endearing nickname “Yabba”. I then told him mine – “Yogi”. There was an instant and intuitive kinship born solely by the two of us having a unique nickname based on a Hanna-Barbera cartoon character. There were lots of laughs that came easily and often. It helped ease those early years of being a young man and trying to find a meaningful direction in life. Learning that Kent and I had common respected friends from Weston only served to enrich our friendship. I haven’t seen Kent in many years. That fact reminds me that when there cannot be quantity, then there should be quality. And there always was quality in our friendship. In that spirit, I am not at all surprised to learn from his obituary that he touched many lives in an utterly positive manner. To Kent’s dear family and many friends; please know how sorry I am to just learn of his passing. He was a good man - and will undoubtedly be missed by many.
