Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMALVINA (MEL) DESJARDINS On Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Actionmarguerite-St. Vital, Malvina (Mel) Desjardins of Winnipeg. Born in St. Boniface, she attended St. Joseph's Academy and St. Adolphe Convent. She had worked in Ottawa during the Second World War in the Treasury Department of the Federal Government and for Unemployment Insurance in Winnipeg. She was later employed by the Desjardins Funeral Chapel for many years. She was predeceased by her first husband John Keenan and second husband Laurent Desjardins; her stepdaughter Patricia Bye, her brother Wilfrid and her three sisters, Irene Gregoire, Florence Chenier and Pauline Shannon. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Louise Keenan of Calgary, two stepdaughters, Caroline (Jack Sinnock) and Suzanne (Bill Fournier), nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, a sister Lorraine Hubbert of Toronto and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 3 in the St. Boniface Cathedral. À Caroline et Suzanne, Je veux tout simplement vous dire combien j'ai été touché par la nouvelle du décès de Mel ces derniers jours. Elle était extraordinaire et gentille. Elle a tellement bien épaulé et appuyé Larry, et c'était évident qu'il l'aimait énormément. J'étais présent à leur mariage et j'ai passé des heures incroyables chez eux pendant les années que je travaillais pour "LLD". Je les ai vus pour la dernière fois en 2010 à St-Vital et j'ai été frappé encore par leur belle relation. Malheureusement, nous étions en voyage au Mexique lors du décès de Larry, et nous étions encore une fois sur la route cette fois aussi.
