EUGENE MARC RONDEAU January 31, 1943 - June 28, 2014 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Eugene (Gene) Rondeau of Selkirk, MB (formerly of St.-Leon, Dunrea, and Winnipeg) on June 28, 2014 at the age of 71 years. A wonderful grandparent, a proud parent, and a great friend, Gene will be lovingly remembered by his wife of over 46 years, Pauline; his children: daughter Nicole (Glenn), son Damien, son Daniel (Nathalie), and his young grandchildren Adele, Jakob, Sophie, and Joshua. He also leaves to mourn his siblings Daryl (Nancy), Paul, and Marcel (Maureen); in-laws Ozzie, Louis (Erminia), Josie (Pat), Dennis (Joy), Mark (Deb); as well as many cousins, nephews and nieces. Gene joins his sister Sally, brother-in-law Clifford, and his parents Marcel and Eva. Eugene had many health issues over the years but despite this, remained active in his workshop and remained the quintessential handyman and jack of all trades. A memorial service celebrating Eugene's life will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB with Monsignor Louis J. McCloskey officiating. A coffee reception to follow. A private interment will be held at the Notre Dame Cemetery Columbarium for immediate family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Humane Society. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

  • Dear Pauline, Nicole and Family, We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Although we did not get to spend much time w/ Grampa Gene, Rama sure enjoyed hanging out w/him in Victoria. Even as a 3yr old boy, Rama knew there was adventure to be found following a man with a tool belt! Our thoughts and prayers are w/ all of you during this time of sorrow.   • Sally & I plus at least 3 others were best friends as young girls in our early teens, of course her 4 brothers were special & stayed special. To Gene's family I'm terribly sorry for your loss.   • Sorry to hear about Gene. I worked with him at Kromar Printing for 3 years and 1 year at B/W back in the '70's. He was a great friend to me and I miss the days we worked together.
