JEAN SPIWAK Peacefully, on Monday, July 7, 2014, Jean (Wladyslawa) Spiwak (nee Fyda), slipped into eternal sleep at Holy Family Home. Jean was a loving and devoted wife and mother who was predeceased by her husband Myroslaw in 1989, and son Slawko (Karl) in 1970. Jean was born December 9, 1922 in the village of Kruzlowa Nizna, Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1948 with her husband and son. She lived a humble life and endured various hardships, but persevered through the strength of her faith in God. She was a long time parishioner of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Jean will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, hard work and exquisite baking. She received immense joy from growing beautiful flowers in her garden and always looked forward to the activities of the St. Nicholas Seniors' Club. Left to cherish Jean's memory are nephews, Roy (Carol) Spiwak, Jerry (Terry) Spiwak and niece, Elsie Parson with their respective families; family in Poland and best friends, Anne and Peter Korbutiak. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 11 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave., with Rev. I. Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Holy Family Home and Doctors Taras and Andrea Babick for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's memory to the St. Nicholas Building Fund. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

W roku 2000 przyjechała do Gdańska, aby uczestniczyć w moich Święceniach Kapłańskich. - Posted by: ks. STANISŁAW FYDA wraz z Rodziną z Gdańska (Ciocia - siostra mojego Tatusia) on: Sep 16, 2016

  • Auntie Jean was a warm and generous person to those surrounding her. She cared greatly for her family and kept in touch with her brother, Jan, who predeceased her in Winnipeg in 2010. Auntie Jean always gave out Coffee Crisps to her nieces Doreen and Kimberley when we visited, and she routinely created splendid dinners at her home. Auntie Jean kept in touch with her nieces Kim and Doreen and, although very frail, made a point of visiting her brother during his last days. Kimberley and I are very sorry we were unaware of her passing and would like to express our condolences to her remaining family and friends. God bless you, Auntie Jean. - Posted by: Doreen Mary Fyda (Niece and God daughter) on: Aug 24, 2014

  • Mrs. Spiwak was very thoughtful and generous. She always showed an interest with what was going on with my life and remembered my special milestones. Her exquisite cakes and cookies had her special touch and will be remembered fondly. She was a close friend to my parents and was much loved. You are now truly home. God Bless You. - Posted by: Theresa Friesen ((Her husband was my godfather)) on: Jul 10, 2014

  • Mrs. Spiwak and her family were good friends of my late mother and father. Although I lost contact with Mrs. Spiwak after my parents' deaths, I still remember her fondly for her kind and gentle manner. Through her friendliness and generosity, she helped to make our world a better place. I offer sincere condolences to her loved ones. - Posted by: Donna Finkleman (nee Danuta Balicki) (Friend) on: Jul 10, 2014

  • Mrs. J Spiwak was one of the nicest kindness generous person I have had the honour to know. She always baked me her famous torte cake for my birthday. When she gave me money I would refuse. To give me the money she would hide it in my purse or pretend she would cry if I did not take it. She was such a good person who I will miss so much. Jean was close to our family and my brother George was her Godson. You will now be with your husband Myroslaw and son Carl. That was all she ever wanted. Her family and home. God bless. God bless you. Vichnaya Pamyat Sofika - Posted by: Sophie Marciniak (her husband was my godfather) on: Jul 09, 2014
