SHANNON ERICKSON Peacefully, with family and friends by her side, Shannon passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. She was predeceased by her parents William and Helen. She is survived by her sister Lynne (Scott); brothers Bill (Ruth) and Steven; nieces Kailee and Alex; nephew Matthew, along with uncles, aunts and numerous close friends. Shannon was born August 18, 1959 in Eriksdale, MB. Growing up she spent a lot of time in Lundar with family and friends. Over the years she enjoyed many sports. Baseball was her favourite, especially the time playing with the Stony Mountain Hooters! She truly was a second Mom to many and especially enjoyed all the times spent with her niece Kailee and her other special nieces Tina, Ashley, Melanie and Michelle. Shannon began working when she was 13 folding sheets at Perth's/Whitehall and cashier at the drugstore in the Brooklands area. She then moved to office work, with her last employer being Pratt's Wholesale where she truly enjoyed the relationships she built with her customers. There was no trying to figure out where you stood with Shannon. She called a spade a spade! She enjoyed life to the fullest and always was ready for a good party. Her unique sense of humour could brighten anyone's day! Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital. We would like to acknowledge the kindness and generosity of the Pratt's family, especially Lenny and Tom. Their many visits and thoughtful words will always be remembered. The family would like to thank Shannon's neighbour Kathleen for being there for us during this time. In keeping with Shannon's wishes, cremation has taken place and a service celebrating her life will be held at a later date. • Shannon live on the same street (Gallagher)as I did. We went to Weston School together and played together. We had a great time when we were little. We may have lost track of each other but when ever we run into each other it was just like old times. She was a wonderful person who loved to have a great time. Rest in peace beautiful girl. My sympathy to her family. Gone to soon. - Posted by: Barb (MacDonald) Frost (Friend) on: Jul 19, 2014

  • R.I.P. Shannon - Posted by: Diane Bailey (Friend) on: Jul 14, 2014

  • My thoughts are with Shannon’s family and her many, many friends. Shannon was a lifelong friend. I will miss her calls at random times of the day or night that always started with “Min, guess who I just ran into?” She was always so proud of our accomplishments and optimistic for anyone’s ability to rebound. Shannon genuinely cared about the health and well-being of our parents, and was on a first named basis with many of them. I will miss our Christmas card exchange and how we always giggled like school girls at her “obscene Santas”. She had the ability to remember so much from our school years and I would often ask her “Sheesh, how do you remember that?” and she would say “How can you forget?”… Well I will never ever forget you Shannon. We had a special friendship –never in each other’s face – just simply and easily able to pick up where we left off. Now in hindsight, I wish I had had more face time with you. Rest in Peace Buddy. • It's funny how some times someone sticks with you in your mind and thoughts even though you never really hang, visit or party with them. I remember Shannon from Brooklands School and the smile she would put on my face when in her presence. Over the years I would cross paths with her and she always did the same, made me smile while we were together even for that very short time. I have not seen or heard from her in many years and had wondered where she had gotten to. Looked for her on facebook and in many posts from others that I know and she knew but never seen or heard nothing until last week. What sad news it was to me to see that she had passed. Rest in Peace Shannon your gone but not forgotten. Tim Bates - Posted by: Tim Bates (Brookland Junior High School ) on: Jul 13, 2014
