JAMES MAES It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of James Maes on Thursday, July 10, 2014. He passed unexpectedly at home, surrounded by family. He leaves to mourn his wife of 26 years, Leanne, children Tyler (Lisa), Jason and Jamie Lee, his mom Margaret, his siblings Rob (Chloe), Marj (Wayne), Don (Sheryn), Dave (Wendy) and Ken (Marianne), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. James was born August 5, 1960. He worked for the province for many years but his heart was on the family farm where he and Leanne raised their three children. The farm was the location of choice for numerous family gatherings where James was a generous host. James and his brother Ken worked hard to grow and develop the farm, instilling their values and passion in the children. He was happiest tinkering in the shop and driving around checking the fields. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Many thanks to the RM of Macdonald EMS and the staff at the Victoria General Hospital and Father Barry Schoonbaert for their care and support. Many years ago, I remember my parents being so upset by the passing of Gabe at such a young age. Now that I am of that age, and the passing of James brings all those thoughts from the past. My thoughts and sympathy to all the family in the passing of their son, brother, husband and father & friend. The service was very fitting and the words about James sincere. I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of James. I feel extremely blessed to have run into James just a few short hours before his passing. I will hold the memories of our younger years near to my heart, especially one of the best trips of my life, from the early eighties when Bruce Goodridge, Duncan Goodridge, Kim Van Wynsberghe, Lorelee McFerran and I all went to visit James and Leanne in Calgary for nine days.
