GIUSEPPE MEDAGLIA It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and nonno, Giuseppe (Joe) Medaglia on July 15, 2014 at the age of 63. He is survived by his loving wife Silvana, daughters Ida (Johnny) and Sonia (Sidney), and his adored grandchildren Vito, Amedeo, Paolo, Massimo and Giordana. He is also survived by his parents Antonio and Ida Medaglia, his siblings Giovanna (Gerardo) Siciliano, Maria (Romano) De Santis, Franco (Elmira) and Carmelino (Pina). Joe will also be remembered by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, godchildren and many dear friends. Joe was born in Lappano, Cosenza, Italy on January 2, 1951. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1969 at the age of 18 to join his sister Giovanna, who he lived with until he met and married the love of his life, Silvana, on June 15, 1974 and together they raised two beautiful daughters. Joe had an exemplary work ethic. He began his career as a drywaller upon his arrival in Canada. A few years later he started his own successful business, Amval Interiors. He had an extraordinary talent and a creative eye when designing and building projects. He took pride in any project he did from start to finish. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to his family and friends. Joe's proudest moments were the births of his grandchildren whom he adored and loved unconditionally. The last few years Joe and Silvana enjoyed their vacations to Mexico and Cuba with their dear friends and travel buddies. Joe will be remembered for his love of cars and trucks, the latest gadgets, his honesty, his great sense of humour and contagious smile. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital who worked tirelessly to try and save Joe's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation (Heart). The Family will receive condolences between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.; Eulogy will be delivered at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, July 19, 2014 in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. with Fr. Sam Argenziano. Entombment will follow in the Holy Angel Mausoleum, Hwy. #1 East and Navin Road. Pallbearers will be Franco Siciliano, Aldo Guerra, Carmine Di Marco, Peter De Luca, Larry Whyte, Claudio Imbrogno, Tony Foderaro and Amedeo Imbrogno. Pa, you will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Riposa in Pace.
