PATRICIA CECILIA TAYLOR (MCGROARTY) October 25, 1923 - July 11, 2014 On July 11, 2014 a reunion occurred in heaven of the sweetest and most joyful kind. What a reunion it must have been, when, following a brief illness, and finally released from mortal life, Patricia's spirit moved beyond this earth, and she joined the love of her life Raymond in heaven after a two year separation. Patricia was born in Winnipeg to Bernard (Ben) and Rose McGroarty and was raised in the West End. She attended St. Edward's School and St. Mary's Academy. In April 1940 she met Raymond when she was just 16 and he 17. Despite an almost five year separation while Ray served overseas, love endured, they were married September 15, 1945 and were inseparable for the next 67 years until Raymond's passing in 2012. Throughout her life Pat was active in women's groups/charities and also worked tirelessly alongside Raymond for the CCF/NDP and the Salvation Army. Patricia was a great cook and nearly everyone who knew her has a story of her bountiful table and her refusal to take no for an answer to second helpings. Patricia also loved to sing, favourites being traditional Irish songs by Bing Crosby and Daniel O'Donnell and gospel music. Pat loved day trips to the casino, bingo, lottery and break opens. She was fastidious about her appearance and style, insisting on well-coordinated outfits, matching shoes and jewelry and had her hair done weekly including her final days. Her greatest love, though, was caring for Raymond, her children and finally visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Patricia is survived by son Cameron Garfield (Janet), daughter Sharon-Rose; grandchildren Johnathan Taylor, Elizabeth Tomkins, Christopher Taylor, Kyle Binne, and James Taylor; great-grandchildren Ashton Taylor, Alexander Tomkins, Cameron Taylor, Ayla Taylor and Riley Taylor; sister Mary Clare, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by husband Raymond, son Bernard, infant daughter Maryanne, brothers Roy, Tommy, Cecil, and sister Veronica. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Urn Garden, Wheeler Cemetery, 884 Symington Road South (Mennonite Memorial Garden), Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Captain Steven Cameron officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Funeral arrangements in care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street 204-224-1525
