I remember Val from years ago when I was young, at the Baptist camp Shanti on Clear Lake. I remember he played the accordion very well and remember him as a very nice and sensitive man. For some reason his name popped into my mind today and I googled him. My condolences for your loss 6 years ago. My mother passed away in 2014 as well, and I remember she really liked Val. One time he lost his cane and I suggested he look behind the bed...there it was and he was so smiley and appreciative. The fact that I remember him after so many years, shows he impacted many lives. - Posted by: Kathy Jenkins (Former Acquaintance) on: Sep 26, 2020

Thank you Val, for making 2 rough Christmases very special with your wonderful musical abilities and your hilarious jokes and interesting stories. It's amazing how a group of lost souls who really don't know each other can gather over a Christmas dinner and magic happens. Those were Christmas dinners I will never forget! I'm so very happy I could find a good home with you for my old accordion! I'm trusting that you will be singing with and playing for that special choir 'up there'. I hope to see you shine there one day...as I know you will! R.I.P. ...and my heartfelt condolences to all your family. Mary Ann - Posted by: Mary Ann Guliov (friend from the past) on: Jul 23, 2014

I had the pleasure of directing the CNIB choir of which Val was a member. I appreciated his singing ability and musical knowledge. He was always willing to accompany our choir and I enjoyed hearing him play piano and accordion. He will be missed. - Posted by: Maureen Monson (Choir friend) on: Jul 20, 2014

Will miss you "Val" or "Bro" as I/we called him. I remember I was always fascinated with his knowledge of shortwave radios / and stations. His impeccable memory to recall dates/days/events from the past. The stories that he told that I could listen to for hours. He could hear a song for the first time ever, and turn around and immediately was able to play it on the piano! We will see you again one day Bro in Heaven with The Lord. -Aaron - Posted by: Aaron (Friend ) on: Jul 20, 2014
