DAVID KRISTINN BELL 1959 - 2014 As designed by his Viking heritage, David had a spirited battle with cancer. He won a few battles, but as he said no one wins the war. Icelandic proud and Viking strong, David was a multi-faceted man. His love for his family and friends was monumental. His passion and commitment for his community was unwavering. David's energy, imagination and desire to see his dreams to fruition knew few boundaries, his compassion and advocacy for those who struggled in life was unbending. He always viewed the world 10 degrees off centre. This provided him with a clear perspective on life and some of the issues it dealt the people he cared about. Guided by his faith in the Lord, David let go of what was and accepted what was to come. David believed that in the end, all that mattered was kindness. Left to mourn his departure is his loving wife Margaret and son Teigun; his five sisters; one brother; his mother and numerous relatives and many great friends. A viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St, Selkirk, Manitoba. A Funeral Mass celebrating David's life will be held on Friday, August 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St, Selkirk, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory can be made to Chemotherapy Department at the Selkirk General Hospital or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Our prayers and condolences go out to Maggie and Teigun. David fought a good fight but the enemy was just a bit stronger. However, he leaves many good memories and good deeds and in that sense, he won the battle! Maxine and John - Posted by: Maxine and John Ingalls (Cousin of David) on: Aug 01, 2014

I worked with David at Betel Home in Selkirk back in the early nineties I believe it was. He was a caring nurse and it was an honour to work with him - He was always willing to share his experiences in the nursing field and all the amazing people he met along the way - His greatest love was his family, and he talked about Maggie all the time - I admired him greatly and I know he will be missed. RIP David - Posted by: Peggy Jenkyns (Co-worker at Betel Home - Selkirk) on: Aug 01, 2014

Margaret, our hearts go out to you and your family at this sad time. Yes, David fought his battle with both courage and insight. And as much as he saw kindness as all that mattered in the end, he steadfastly offered his kindness and caring throughout his life. May he rest in peace with God. My prayers to go out to family for their wonderful support and love they gave David during his illness.....as David said "Maggie is my rock" & he loved Teigun & his family too. I'm so glad that David is out of pain & in peace with the Lord and back home with family. When visiting with you from time to time we would share some intimate moments of what was yet to come and the challenges we both faced. There was a reason why God brought us together. You opened my eyes to many things of what was yet to come and planted the seeds in my mind of your dreams. You were a strong willed & determined man who wanted to accomplish many more things but I believe you will help us accomplish some of those dreams as you will work through us as an angel. God Bless you David & your family. - Posted by: Marilyn Loutit & Family (Proud Cousin of David's ) on: Jul 31, 2014
