TIMOTHY WILLIAM MARSHALL April 9, 1960 August 9, 2014 It is with great shock and sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of Timothy William Marshall on August 9, 2014, at his home at the age of 54, with his loving wife Sherri by his side. His larger than life presence will be extremely missed by all. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Sherri; parents Orville and Edith Marshall; sister, Darlene Vokey; mother-in-law, Artelle Bland; sisters-in-law, Lisa Wells, Tania and Krista Bland; his nieces and nephews and numerous lifelong friends. Tim was predeceased by his grandparents William and Annie Marshall, Dennis and Edith Done and father-in-law, Terry Bland. Tim, "Orv", as he was known to his friends, lived his entire life in Selkirk, Manitoba. He graduated from the Selkirk "Comp"; after graduating he began his career at MRM where he was employed for his entire working life. Orv enjoying playing golf, his passion was hockey on and off the ice from an early age. Orv started playing hockey, reluctantly at age six by the prompting of his mother, his participation in the sport eventually launched so many of his lifelong friendships still held to this day. Feeling that he had to prove himself due to his stature, he jokingly would say that he was "lower to the ice and could get past his opponents faster"; Orv had a great scoring ability, #19 forever in our hearts. Tim was a private man; he was hard-working, he had an extremely compassionate heart, and he was kind and generous to all who knew him. Although he had no children of his own, he adored children and was always showering them with gifts and cash. Tim had a soft spot in his heart for his beloved family pet, Sandy who died when he was a young boy and reminisced about his love for his dog, whom he missed dearly. Within the last two years, he found friendship in his new canine buddy, Tianna Bland who frequently visited and brightened his days. He spoiled her so much she is now on a diet. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Paul Starodub, Jeff Hnatiuk, Bill Anderson, Scott Whitwell, Terry Kalawarny, for all of their friendship and support throughout his life. Sherri wishes to send a special thank you to Paul Starodub whom was a constant source of support and friendship to Tim and herself, especially during Tim's difficult days. Tim looked forward to Paul's visits and they were the bright spot in his day. A memorial service to celebrate Tim's life will be held on August 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, Manitoba with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. A private interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tim's memory may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association and the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Tim was my dad's best friend. Growing up, he was always at our place and he was our Uncle Tim. We loved him immensely and everything that they say is true. He was always giving us loonies/cash to go *get a slurpee*. He was never cross or unhappy. I nicknamed him and my dad Barney and Fred. Miss you Uncle Tim - Posted by: Jennifer Anderson (Family friend) on: Sep 29, 2023

  • Condolences and prayers to Marshalls and Bland families and all of Orv's close friends. Orv was one in a million. Will always remember the bunch of guys (Stardub, Leach, Hnatiuk and lots I'm forgetting) coming over after hockey (my Dad coaching) and Orv always treated me and our family with respect. He made me feel like his little sister. I believe he even stopped into my Mom and Dad's later on in life. Rest in peace my friend. Thanks for the laughs. • Our deepest condolences to the Bland and Marshall Families!!! Sherry you are in our thoughts and prayers always! In 2007, Tim reconnected with us and we had quite the chat. Well it was more like the big sister giving him a lecture LOL! He listened. Tim expressed how great it was to have his Sherry in his life!! He was so happy and at peace with you Sherry!!! Your love was so deep and Tim knew it!!! Tim played hockey with my brother Robbie. After late night practises and games, they came back to our house. These were young boys with an appetite!!! I had made my usual huge pot of chili and it must have been a great game. They devoured the chili!! Tim came up to me and proceeded to bug me to make more, my response was NO!!! He had eaten 6 huge bowls along with buns!!! He kept bugging me in a joking way! I then said ok but you're helping!! We began the process of thawing the hamburger and adding the ingredients!! When done that pot was gone!!! From then on I said they needed to win each game for that to happen again!!! I miss the chili nights!!! Tim had a huge heart and cared deeply for those he loved!!! He lived a simple but happy life!!! He was the greatest son, to Edie and Orville!! He gave his heart and soul to all! To Sherry and family he loved you all deeply!!! Sherry you were his Angel!!!! There is a beautiful poem called " The Dash". I think Tim lived by that poem!!! R.I.P. Tim you are free and we will see you again!!! - Posted by: Teresa and Raymond Macumber (Close friends) on: Aug 12, 2014
