EILEEN STANTON 1920 2014 Born in Brandon, raised in Regina, graduated in nursing from the Regina General in 1942. In that year, at a dance she met Ed, the love of her life. They married later that year while Dad was serving in the Air Force. Their family began while living in Vets' Village at University of Manitoba. This was the beginning of her life long involvement as volunteer nurse to her community. They lived in Winnipeg most of their lives except for a few years in Sarnia, Montreal and Toronto. The Anglican Church was an important part of their lives in each of these communities. Dancing and travel remained passions throughout their lives. Other interests of Mom's included music, painting, photography, sewing, and tatting. While Mom's primary focus was her husband and family, she was a gracious loving lady interested in everyone she met. Eileen will be greatly missed by her husband Ed of 72 years, children Jan (Dave) Christensen, Jo (Dave deceased) Kellendonk, Sue Stanton (Rod Thorleifson), Sandy (Gil) Vermette, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, sister Gert (Lyall), and sister-in-law Eleanor as well as nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church (Wilton and Grosvenor). Special thanks to all the staff at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg who so lovingly cared for Mom over the last year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George's Church Memorial Fund. I'm sorry for your loss Sue, I remember how passionately you talked about your mother in class. I always enjoyed the stories and laughs we had about experiences with your mom. From what I heard and saw you were dedicated and helped her as much as possible enjoy her last years of life. She must have been a amazing woman cause her and your father raised a wonderful daughter. My condolences to you and your family during difficult times. -Desinee - Posted by: Desinee (Student) on: Dec 10, 2014
