KATIE BOOY (nee REIMER) 1957 - 2014 On Saturday, August 9, 2014, our hearts torn with grief, we said goodbye to our beloved wife, mother and grandma, Katie Booy. Katie's health began to fail one year ago. She went into heart failure resulting from damaged heart valves from Rheumatic Fever as a child. On October 11, 2013, she had emergency valve replacements. Two days later, she suffered the loss of her son Corey. Her recovery from surgery was prolonged and difficult. On June 15, en route to visit Charlene and family, she became ill. She had emergency valve replacements for Endocarditis on June 28 in Vancouver. In spite of the excellent care by the doctors and staff at St. Paul's Hospital she lost her battle to the overwhelming infection. Katie was born May 11, 1957 to Gerhardt and Olga Reimer of Winnipeg. In 1976, she was baptized on confession of her faith in The First Christian Reformed Church in Winnipeg. She was married to Harold Booy on June 4, 1977. After serving two years at Bach Christian Hospital in Pakistan, they settled in Winkler, Manitoba. Katie's first son was stillborn. We were blessed with three daughters, two sons, three sons-in-law and six grandchildren. Katie dedicated her life to serving others. She loved unconditionally. She listened and accepted people as they were. She doted on her children and grandchildren. She will be sorely missed. Katie was predeceased by her father, Gerhardt, her brother, Harry, and her son, Corey. She is mourned by her husband, Harold, children, Michelle and Tom Harder (Ryan, Braeden, Luke and Leah), Charlene and Todd Wohlgemuth (Kasey and Taya), Heather and Mike Hildebrandt and Kyle and many family and friends. Viewing will be prior to the service. Funeral service for Katie will be held at 2:00 p.m. (tomorrow) on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the EMMC 600 Southview Dr. in Winkler with interment to follow at Westridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Katie's memory to the Winkler Bible Camp and Children's Camps International available at the church. • Will never forget your smile and positive attitude... so glad we introduced you to Harold. We had such fun as friends in school:):) and in young peoples at church. - Posted by: Willy Guyda ( van Leeuwen) (friend) on: Sep 11, 2014

  • I remember when you were in Pakistan with us. We just had our Pakistan Reunion--140 of us who had lived and worked in that country. We have a memorial service. I'm sorry we did not know about Katie's homegoing--but I do have the information to pass on to the committee for the reunion in 2016. Katie will be remembered then. God bless you as you go through these sad times. - Posted by: Jean Sodemann (Colleague and friend from Pakistan days) on: Aug 18, 2014
