Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) DAVID HALLSON Peacefully on August 17, 2014 with family by his side, Bob passed away at the age of 70 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Elsie; his son Randy (Trish); daughter Cheryl (Greg); granddaughters Amanda, Bryanna, Naykia, Dakota and Danielle; sisters Doris and Donna (Jerry); sisters-in-law Elanor-Mae (Wayne), Shirley (Keith) and Linda; brother-in-law Reggie (Janet), and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Bob was predeceased by his father and mother, Ed and Myrtle Hallson, and his nephew Kevin Smith. Bob was born in Winnipeg, but grew up in Selkirk and spent many of his summers at the family farm in Lundar. He met and married the love of his life Elsie and soon started a family, living north of Selkirk along the Red River. Bob spent much of his working life as a truck driver for Goodbrandson's Transfer, where he very much enjoyed the friends and social connections he made throughout the years. Anyone who met Bob was an instant friend; he was easy to talk to, quick to laugh, and had a special talent for making people feel at ease. He was very proud of his children and granddaughters who he spent a lot of quality time with, as well as his special little neighbour Paige (Heidi). In his later years although he was limited by his health concerns, he very much enjoyed his and his friends and family's dogs, as he had a strong love of animals. Deepest thanks to the home care and palliative care nurses, aides, and social worker, who provided care and comfort in Bob's final months at home, and to the nurses, doctors, aides and staff at the Selkirk General Hospital. The care Bob received there was always compassionate, personal, and professional. Special thanks to his physician Dr. Zoppa. A memorial service with lunch to follow will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk, MB, Thursday, August 21 at 1:00 p.m, following a private interment. I grew up in my mid childhood being neighbors with Bob and Elsie, Bob was always very kind and caring. As kids, we always would go to their house and play with their grandchildren. My sincere sympathy to Donna and the rest of the family. I grew up across the street from the Hallson's and although I didn't really know Bob (he was the handsome older brother).
