LORNE DOUGLAS LAMONT August 14, 1929 August 16, 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lorne Douglas Lamont, age 85 years on Saturday, August 16, 2014. He will be remembered by his children Brian (Laurie), Donna Mae, Bruce (Lori) and Greg. Grandchildren, Tara (Harvey), Christopher (friend Jackie), Kevin (Kristy), Noah, plus eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Don (Lise) and Hugh as well as nieces and nephews. Lorne was predeceased by his wife Lorna, son-in-law Jim Scott, brother-in-law Bill Jack, sister-in-law Diane Lamont and sister-in-law Doreen Kolikowski. Lorne was born and raised in Dominion City, MB. As a young boy he worked on the farm helping his Dad. He met Lorna Jack from Ridgeville, MB married and had four children. Lorne went on to Thompson, MB working for Inco, in many remote locations, with Lorna keeping the home fires burning back in Dominion City. Lorne returned to Dominion City and worked for a few years with his brother Hugh at Lamont Trucking. But then moved on to his favourite job, working for the RM of Franklin for 17 years, working on the graders, there he stayed until he retired in 1994. Lorne and Lorna raised their family and enjoyed their retirement years on the banks of the Roseau River in their home that they loved. They took such pride in working together in their yard and gardens. He enjoyed curling and golfing and many enjoyable trips across the border. The family would like to thank the Southern Health home care workers, Dominion City First Responders who were always there for him and treated him with such respect. We would also like to thank Dr. Fraser and the staff at Morris Hospital. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Roseau Crossing Heritage Park or the Dominion City Curling Club. A celebration of Dad's life will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dominion City United Church. Wiebe Funeral Home Altona in care of arrangements. 204-324-5404

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am extending my sympathy to the Lamont families on the passing of Lorne. I heard lots about him and had some visits with him when I lived with Earl & Ethel when I taught at Dominion City. Thinking of you. Bev - Posted by: Beverley Sawchuk (Morrow) (friend) on: Aug 31, 2014
