IVAN WAYNE HINK 1951 - 2014 Ivan Wayne Hink passed away August 12, 2014 at Boundary Trails Health Centre following a battle with cancer. Wayne was born August 15, 1951, the eldest child of Rudolph (predeceased 1996) and Elsie Hink (predeceased 2006) of Miami, MB where he grew up. As a teenager he was a Queen Scout and an excellent marksman. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and his dog. He also read extensively about nature and history. He enjoyed playing cards and could do challenging crosswords in pen. He was a private man with a great love for nature. Wayne resided in Gibsons, BC for 35 years and worked as a glazier. Here he had many friends, belonged to the Legion and enjoyed playing darts. After an initial bout of cancer, he returned to Manitoba, living at Kaleida to be closer to family. He will be sadly missed by his three sisters Margaret (Don) Boulton of Morden, MB, Vivian (Robert) Stewart of Fort St. John, BC and Brenda (Cliff) Seward of Kaleida, MB and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A private celebration of life was held near one of his favorite fishing holeS. We would like to thank Drs. Bisson, Woelk and Menzies as well as Kaeleigh Vodden, Deb Weir (Cancer Care Navigators) and all the wonderful staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre for the kindness, compassion and respect shown to Wayne. We also thank our friends and families for their loving support. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to the Boundary Trails Foundation Cancer Navigation, Box 200, Winkler, MB, R6W 1H8. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I worked with Wayne at Shield glass for 2 years, he was a dedicated, intelligent and talented guy. He passed on his glazing knowledge to me as a youngster. I was in Gibsons this past weekend and thought of visiting him, I had no idea what had happened to him. I remember his stories of his youth in Manitoba and his infamous gold duster he bought cash from the dealership there. He was an honest guy who always had good advice and man I always wondered how he beat the newspapers high score in Scrabble. And could complete the entire Sunday crossword section in a half hour lunch. I will drink a pint for you Wayne. God bless your soul. - Posted by: Chris Grimard (Former Co-worker) on: Apr 07, 2016

  • To the family and friends of Wayne, I was saddened to learn of Wayne's passing. His picture in the paper shed glimpses of the past of a big, strong, willing worker with a very respectful edginess. He had a genuine work ethic and a happy way about him. I personally enjoyed working with Wayne along with all our co-workers. It was nice to see Wayne was still in the glazing industry. May his memories bring comfort and peace to the family and to those who had a special walk in life with Wayne.
