DARLENE LOUTIT Peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at her residence in Gonor, MB, our beloved mother, aged 70 years passed away with family by her side. Darlene was born May 22, 1944 in Selkirk, MB. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret (nee Beaton) and Herman; sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Lawrence Chopek; brother Bud Saunders and niece Kerri Mitchell. She will be sadly missed by her children Desiree (Bill), Destry (Nancy) and Marly; sisters Leona (Ron) and Maxine; grandchildren Sean and Kaitlin; niece Tammy Chopek as well as numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Peggy, Allie, Wilma and Janice. Darlene was a very hardworking woman with quite the sense of humour. She loved to laugh and truly cared for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her friends whether it was having breakfast at the golf course; suppers, parties and cards with "the birthday girls", heading out to jig the night away, or doing jigsaw puzzles. She could always make everyone laugh and was the life of the party. Special thanks to Dr. Demsas and Dr. Lindenschmidt, the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital, Palliative Care Selkirk, Home Care Selkirk, David and Wes Gilbart, Arnold Asham and the Asham Stompers, the cabin meant so much to Darlene, the Skinners for treating her like family from the age of 13, to Peggy for the endless nights spent with the family, and The Ven. Godfrey Mawejje. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, August 27 at 1:00 p.m. also in the chapel. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy, Guy, Clayton, Sean, Alex, Lonnie, Ron and Cole. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Palliative Care Selkirk. Memories sometimes slide down your cheeks. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • So long friend. - Posted by: Lou Dobbs () on: Aug 27, 2014

  • It is easy remembering your Mom. She was that fun loving person who had a way with words. But you always knew she was kidding. Many many many hours were spent playing cards with her and the girls. Fun times. Remembering her fondly. Bobbie - Posted by: Bobbie and Ed Huck and family (Friend) on: Aug 27, 2014

  • I was really sad when I was told that she was at rest. It was much too soon. She was a wonderful mother, and an honorable and hard working woman. When we were younger she asked me to be godmother to Desiree and Destry and I was always (and still am) proud to be in that role. She had a nature you could not help loving and a heart of gold. I know that the Heavenly Father will welcome her in His arms with love and grant her Eternal Peace. God Bless you also, Desiree, Destry and Marly - Posted by: Mary Louise Forbes (Cousin) on: Aug 24, 2014

  • Our thoughts & prayers go out to all of the families. Dale remembers the times when he would babysit for her and it brought back some cherished memories that he'll never forget. I pray for strength for the family to get through these difficult times. Darlene was fighter with disease and did everything she could but unfortunately it was her time. - Posted by: Dale & Marilyn Loutit (Aunt) on: Aug 24, 2014

  • Our family is deeply saddened by the loss of Darlene. My uncles and father could always leave the restaurant in her capable hands. We considered her part of family. If everyone could go through life with the work ethic, the honesty, trustworthiness and cheerful attitude that Darlene had,the world would be a better place. My uncles and parents are waiting to place your order Darlene for passage into heaven. There is not a more deserving person. - Posted by: Jimmie Skinner JR (friends) on: Aug 23, 2014

  • We are saddened to learn about Darlene but we had the pleasure of visiting with her in May when she attended our Dad's special dinner in Selkirk. We were honored to have her sit at our table & remember with humor, our working years in our family business. Darlene was a very caring & kind person who could be counted on. Although we did not keep in touch, our family often remembered her in our conversations & we all spoke fondly of her. She fought a rough battle with her illness & now the rewards are finally hers & hers alone. Sincerely, the "Skinners" - Posted by: Karen, Holly, Tess & Jimmie Skinner (friends) on: Aug 23, 2014
