Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWINIFRED ANGELA RAMSAY (OSMAN) October 12, 1917 - August 24, 2014 It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Winifred Angela Ramsay on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara (Tracy) (1998) and son Stephen (Helen, Samantha, Jason, Devin) (2006). She is survived by her loving children, Nigel (Emily, Christine, Stephanie, Justin); Desiree (Naz, Brian, Tracey, Wendy); Joan (Ray, Kenryck, Rosetta, Kevin); Ingrid (Keiron, Kendra-Ann); Horace (Judy, Anthony, Andrea). She leaves to mourn 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren (and will be 25 very soon) and seven great-great grandchildren. As well as numerous nephews, nieces, extended family members, and friends. Winifred was born in Georgetown, Guyana, on October 12, 1917, and migrated to Canada in 1971. She was known as an exceptional seamstress from the age of 13. She was an extremely caring, loving and generous person. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Please join us in a celebration reception in her honour. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the east wing at St. Norbert's Personal Care Home for their support, dedication and great care for the last three years, as well as the staff of the 5th floor Palliative Care Ward at Victoria General Hospital in her last days. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation in her honour to the Arthritis Society of Manitoba, or a charity of your choice. I know this message is long overdue but I didn't have a knowledge of my Great Aunt until much later in my adult life. You see at times family is always so much more appreciated when you don't have connections. In my case, I would have loved to have known her. I really look so much like her! "Nanny" was a special part of our family for many years. She was a special "grandmother" to our sons Ewen and Fraser from shortly after they were born until they started school. She helped Norm and I learn how to be parents, and she shared her love with all of us.
