Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARRY STANHOPE March 16, 1938 - August 28, 2014 Peacefully on Thursday, August 28 2014, with his family by his side, our beloved husband, father and grandfather Barry Stanhope passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Barry is survived by his mother Harriet, whom he visited just last week in Regina for her 102nd birthday. He is also survived by his loving wife Bev of 49 years, sons Trevor (Erin) and Evan, grandson John. Barry was predeceased by his father Tom, brother George and sister-in-law Marilyn. Barry was employed at MTS for 35 years, retiring at age 55. He enjoyed his retired life in many ways. He always looked forward to the " special meeting" that he would attend once a month at the legion with some of his fellow retired coworkers. He also enjoyed spending time at the cottage with family and friends where many great times were enjoyed by all. Barry was a fun loving guy who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Barry's life will be held at Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Deacon Brian Carter will be officiating the service. The family would like to thank Dr. Kumar, Jackie, Pat and all the caring staff on the third floor of Cancer Care. Thank you also to the coffee cart volunteers and all the blood and platelette donors. Flowers graciously declined. Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street 204-224-1525

No words can say how sad we were to hear of Barry's passing. He was our neighbour for many years and we shared lots of great times. From sitting on Bev and Barry's deck relaxing to sharing our dog "Tassy". He will be remembered as a kindhearted friend. - Posted by: Darlene Wright, Trevor and Kristyn Karasevich (neighbours) on: Sep 02, 2014

I remember Barry but not from MTS. Unfortunately my memory isn't as good as it used to be. I think we both worked at Investors Syndicate, if it wasn't there it was at Air Canada. I remember him being a kind and fun loving guy and always happy. To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Jo-Anne - Posted by: Jo-Anne Davidson (long ago co-worker) on: Sep 02, 2014

With sadness I pay my respects to a friend of 55 years. When our family moved to Winnipeg in 1959, we lived in a suite above the Stanhope family. Uncle Tommy and Aunt Harriett were like Grandparents to me. Barry was the "cool" older guy that used to call me names, ruffle my hair, pull my loose teeth and generally get me into trouble:) Barry's wedding was the first one I ever attended and had so much fun with my Dad and Barry's family (George) booby trapping their Honeymoon car! Over the years we haven't seen much of each other but I always considered him a good friend and have many fond memories. Barry was a gentle soul and a kind hearted man. My sympathies to Bev, Trevor and Evan and their families for their loss. You will be greatly missed. Lynn - Posted by: Lynn Howard née Latimer (Long time family friend) on: Sep 02, 2014
