JOSEPH (JOE) BODNAR It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Josef Bodnar on July 28, 2014 at Victoria General Hospital in Victoria, BC. Joe will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter Roselene (Joy), grandsons Nathan, Jordan and Alexander, son Joseph Junior, daughter-in law Nerissa, granddaughters Zoey and Leeloo, son Justin, daughter-in law Angela, grandson Atlas, mother Rose, sister Irene, brother-in-law Andrew, sister-in-law Susie, brothers-in-law Peter and David. As well as all of his friends, and other family. Joe was born in Csobanka, Hungary November 11, 1946 and came to Canada when he was 18. He attended Tec Voc School and was trained as a draftsman. However office type work was not for him, and he decided to make a living driving, which he always enjoyed. He met the love of his life, Shirley Hildebrand and they married in 1969 and raised their family in Winnipeg. Their house always had room for everyone and more. Joe and Shirley shared 41 happy years of marriage till Shirley passed away in 2010. Joe missed the love of his life deeply and decided to move to the place the two of them had planned to go in retirement. So in 2011 Joe moved to Victoria and decided to finally retire and enjoy himself. Joe really enjoyed his time on the island, taking walks on Whiffen Spit with his dog Muffin and sitting watching the ships go by. Family and driving were Joe's passions, driving around the island to see the sites and spending time with family and friends. We will all be missing him dearly, and he will forever be in our hearts. Joe and Shirley are now holding hands and together forever. According to Joe's wishes, cremation and a private family gathering of remembrance has already taken place in Victoria, BC. Donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Society. The family apologizes for the delay in publishing due to the sudden nature of his passing. A living obituary and condolences can be posted online at http://carefuneral.com/obituaries.
