LEONE CHESTER 1945 - 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, aunt and friend, Leone E. Chester, of Winnipeg on September 5, 2014. Leone was predeceased by her parents Eileen and Cecil Chester. She is survived by her brothers Kevin (Rita) and Dennis (Judy); many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and nephews and her extended family at the Winnserv Home on Canora Street. Leone lived at home until her mother could no longer care for her but wherever Mom went so did Leone. Mom's identity was wrapped in all of Leone's many needs and her wants for her life. Leone spent many summers at the family cottage at Falcon Lake with some of the family picnics and reunions as her best memories. She was always up early each morning to get the first cup of coffee to get the day on its way. She travelled extensively with her mother enjoying trips to Europe, Greece, Ireland, Hawaii and her favourite, Mexico. Her favourite pastime in Mexico was an afternoon with mom at Senor Frogs or relaxing by the pool. She enjoyed her Winnserv girls' night out as well as bowling on Saturday afternoons. Leone enjoyed a good party, liked to dance and enjoyed any snacks within her reach. Her other favourite activities included going out for dinner (Olive Garden and the Pancake House), knitting and sitting in her rocking chair and watching television. We want to thank Leone for teaching us a lot about the value and dignity of disability. There will be a private family gathering on Saturday, October 4, 2014. In lieu of flowers our family would be honoured if donations can be made to Winnserv, 101 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. R3G OR4, in memory of Leone. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care. Family and friends can go online and can share fond memories and condolences at ejcoutu.com "When you come to the edge of all that you have known there will be two possibilities awaiting you: There will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly" The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Leone, who was a member of Community Venture Senior's Day Services since 1993, will be deeply missed by her friends and the staff. She shared her love and sense of humour with us on a daily basis. We often eavesdropped on Leone's conversations with her mother in heaven, the stories of the little man in her lunch box and the dinosaur that lived in her living room. It has been our privilege to associate with a great soul, and she will forever be in our hearts. - Posted by: Community Venture Senior's Day Service (Friend) on: Sep 15, 2014

  • I used to babysit Leone when she was small and lived on Champagne St. I lived on Braemar and she was a bright light in my life. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. You will be the bright light for God now Leone and he will comfort you in his arms. God Bless - Posted by: Joanne Roussin (old friend) on: Sep 14, 2014
