ELEANOR CONSTANCE YOUNG
Born: Sep 21, 1930
Date of Passing: Sep 08, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR CONSTANCE YOUNG September 21, 1930 - September 8, 2014 Peacefully, and surrounded by music and loved ones, Eleanor, beloved mother of Tanis, Tracy, and Todd, left this world. The thing Mum loved best was sharing laughter. She was humorous and brimming over with character; bright, colourful, creative, always coordinated, inspiring smiles wherever she went. She was candid and charming, warm, loving, and loved. Mum faced cancer with that same disposition and lived an entire year longer than expected. She was admirably stubborn like that and still had her sense of humour and dry wit throughout. She was "Granny Cool" to her treasured grandson, Lexxus Romaniuk-Young. She loved every flower and card she received, every visitor who came by, especially her four-legged friends, Josie-Jo, Judge, and her baby-girl' Kymba. Born, September 21, 1930, to Albert and Constance Hunt, Mum was "the kid" to Roland and Phyllis, growing up in St. James. They used to camp often at Clear Lake and Mum with her brother would sing in the Amphitheatre to the entertainment of many, and her soprano voice was welcomed in many choirs. Mum was a people-person who enjoyed her jobs at Eaton's, E.H. Price, and The Bay. She loved her birthdays so much that she used to decorate her mail cart at The Bay weeks in advance to advertise the coming of her big day, and, if she had any regrets in her passing, among them would be moving on just shy of this year's birthday celebration. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no official service. Her ashes will be scattered as she wished by her children. Todd (Arlene Romaniuk) will take her to the Colorado River. She will go along with Tracy on her trip to Alaska. Tanis (Barry Prosyk) will spread ashes in her garden at Lester Beach. So, when you see the water flowing, snowflakes falling, or the flowers blooming, remember Mum then, and do it with happiness. The family would like to thank the Palliative program under the coordination efforts of Sandy Porco. Dr. Joanna Webb, Dr. Wong, and Dr. Ted St. Godard for their compassionate care of Mum at St. Boniface and Riverview. Dr. Ted said, "Eleanor taught us doctors something, and that was to never give up on her". Special thanks to the nurses and health care aides in the hospital, as well as the homecare team. Her wish was to make you all laugh. Flowers gratefully declined, but if you'd like to contribute to your favoured charity in Mum's name, bless you. What drove Mum at the end was her ambition to get up and walk again. As an angel now, we know she'll tuck back her wings, and walk once more, singing again, scampering, twirling, dancing, gleefully painless, and always laughing. Carpe Diem! Love you, Mum. Tracy, I will always remember your Mum's quick wit and joyous laugh. She transformed any family gathering into a happy, sometime raucous and often musical time. You did so well taking care of her, right up to her final musical moments surrounded by friends and family. I know there will be a huge void in your life that I hope you will fill with happy memories. Now it is time to take care of you. Deep breath and open the next door. With great love, Sandie - Posted by: Sandra Prettie (nee Hunt) (niece to Eleanor, cousin to Tracy, Tanis & Todd) on: Sep 14, 2014

So sorry to hear of your mom passing away. I saw her name on the hall plaque at Riverview when Gord and I were visiting my Uncle Don over the past summer. I thought perhaps it was the Mrs. Young that I remember so well from Neil Ave. Your mom was always so very kind to me growing up...always asking about my music and where I was singing. We had that in common. It was a good place to grow up, that friendly street. Good times.....Take care..and love to Todd and Tanis. - Posted by: Eileen Findlay (Old neighbour) on: Sep 13, 2014

I have very great memories of your Mom when we lived on Trent ave. right across the back lane from your place. SHe helped me make my maternity outfits when I was pregnant with my first child. She helped me a lot when he was born. We worked together at E.H.Price. I also have a alegater bank that Tracy made for my first born son Leslie. I am greatly sadened by hearing of your Mom passing. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Hugs Evelyn Olson - Posted by: Evelyn Olson (A very good friend & neighbor from long ago. ) on: Sep 13, 2014
