LOIS MARY ANDERSON (nee LYMBURNER) August 22, 1914 - September 8, 2014 After a long life our Aunt Lois is now at rest. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James (Jim) Anderson; her parents, Ada and Walter Lymburner, and her sisters, Amy Bowes and Aileen Deeks. Those left to celebrate her life include nieces and nephews, and "great-nieces and nephews", throughout Canada and the USA - Jerri and Don Hall, Sue and Art James of Winnipeg, MB; Terry and Mary Pearce of Brandon, MB; Judi and Mike Andrews of Parksville, BC; Lois and Ron Huerth of Simi Valley, CA; Herb and Claudia Deeks of Santa Ana, CA; her sisters-in-law, Dulcie (Vic deceased) and Joyce (Bill deceased) Anderson; nieces Louise Diane Hotaling, and Cindi Leigh Liebespech of California; and nephew William Anderson, Jr. of Colorado. Lois was born and raised in Winnipeg and although she traveled to Europe and the Caribbean, as others moved to the temperate climate of California, she never wanted to leave her roots. She was a dedicated Kindergarten and Grade 1 Teacher who spent 40 years teaching for the Winnipeg One School Division at Champlain, Ashland and Riverview Schools. Until the last few years, she was an active member of the Retired Women Teachers Association, Khartum Ladies' Auxiliary, Daughters of the Nile and member of their Choir, and, until her death, continued to be a supporting member of Fort Garry United Church. Prior to arthritis winning out, Lois was an accomplished pianist who used this talent throughout her life and career as an accompanist to school choirs in performances and rehearsals, playing hymns for seniors' residences, and playing for her own and her families' enjoyment. For many years she attended and supported Opera, Gilbert and Sullivan performances, the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Rainbow Stage, and WSO Pops Concerts. As her mobility decreased it became more difficult for her to be involved, and certainly stopped her annual trips to California, which she, her family and friends sorely missed to the end. At her request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be placed in the Columbarium beside her beloved Jim, at Thomson "In the Park" in Fort Garry. Lois also requested no flowers but if you would like, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Special thanks to the staff on Station 1 at Tuxedo Villa and friend, Florence Marcino for being part of our Lois Team. Our family and friends will miss sharing her joy of life, her wealth of historical family information, and hearing her wonderful laugh. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Lois was a long time friend of my Mother, Ruth Piper Sawney. They lived near one another in Elmwood and I have a clipping where Lois and her sisters were at a party at my Grandparents house. My Mom bought the rock maple bedroom set from one of Lois's sisters. We still have the set and my son Brian is using it.I used it as my bedroom furniture during my teen years. Lois was always such a gracious person. - Posted by: Alison Poetker (Friend) on: Dec 24, 2014

  • I went to visit Lois at Tuxedo Villa yesterday when I learned of her passing. So, I just wanted to extend my condolences to the family as Lois was such a lovely lady who I enjoyed spending time with and helping her with her daily needs. She'll always have a place in my heart, and I too will miss hearing her joyous laugh. - Posted by: Janice Ham (Home Instead Senior Care) on: Oct 17, 2014
