Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGARRY HENRY DOYLE June 4, 1934 - September 13, 2014 Suddenly on Saturday, September 13, 2014 Garry passed away at Kin Place Personal Care Home, Oakbank, MB. He was predeceased by his sister, Eileen. Garry was born in Tenterfield, New South Wales, Australia. He spent his early life in Inverell, New South Wales, graduating with top honours in economics in his final year at Inverell High School. He attained his Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Education at the University of New England, Armidale, commencing his teaching career at Narrabri. He also earned his Bachelor of Economics through the University of Queensland. His desire to travel sent him to Tanzania, Africa along with his wife Edith and daughter Manon, to teach for two years. Next step was a short stint in England, followed by immigration to Canada. He taught in Whitemouth and Selkirk, earning his Bachelor of Education through the University of Manitoba in 1968. While in Manitoba, he was promoted to principal, starting at Eriksdale and then moving to Gypsumville and Kelwood. During this time he earned his Masters of Education through the University of Manitoba in 1977. He settled in as principal at McCreary, shifting back to teaching in the later years. Garry was also an avid beekeeper, layering this on with teaching for a time, while he lived at McCreary. He extracted honey every fall and sold honey to the local residents. He always took joy in being able to deliver fresh honey to many loyal customers. In springtime, he always looked forward to the Onanole flea market, where he could socialize with people in attendance and sell honey. Garry always enjoyed getting caught up with old customers and meeting new ones. Bee-keeping was a true passion and even sweeter when he could make new friends when selling honey. He leaves his daughter Manon Anders, her husband Roy, granddaughters, Chelsea O'Leary (Des) and Casey (Jojo Ablang), grandsons Ward and Wyatt, and great-grandchildren Sienna, Ryan, Alison, Seán. He also leaves his wife Marguerite, her son James Turnbull (Leanne) and their children Tanesa, Haley and Jaden. Mr Doyle was my first high school principal in Eriksdale also. Thought of him often over the years....a truly highly respected teacher and a consummate gentleman. I remember he wanted all of the boys to wear a white shirt and tie for school pictures. Being disappointed that I didn't have one, he insisted that I wear one...so he told me to wear his. Rest Peacefully Mr Doyle. I will always remember you. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Linden Johnson (student of 1968) on: Sep 17, 2014

We send our sincere condolences to the family of Garry on his sudden passing. We keep you in our thoughts and prayers. We met Garry just over 10 years ago. He was a well educated, knowledgeable and cultured man. He shared many a story with us over the years. Garry was a true gentleman. As beneficiaries of his "honey", we thank you. May you rest in peace. - Posted by: Glen & Denise Walleyn () on: Sep 17, 2014

Mr. Doyle cemented my interest in history with his insightful teaching during my grade 10 year in Eriksdale. He was the best teacher I remember. My best wishes to you, his family. - Posted by: Bill Watson (former student) on: Sep 17, 2014
