JOHN W. A. GODFREY
Date of Passing: Sep 18, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN W. A. GODFREY John died at the St. Boniface Hospital on Thursday, September 18, 2014. A kind and gentle man, John was passionate about his family and his music. He was so proud of his son Paul and his daughter Margo (Dave Penner) and delighted in his granddaughters Caitlin (Chris Shand), Amy (Matt Tombs) and Rebecca. He was the best friend and dear husband of Leslie (nee Fennell). John is survived by his brother Tom (Florence) in Calgary and by nieces and nephews in Alberta and Ontario. Music was a very important part of John's life and gave him much pleasure, especially the many years he sang with the Fort Garry United Church choir. Life will be less rich without him and he will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place with a private family service to follow. Death is not putting out the light. It is extinguishing the lamp because the dawn has come. Rabindranath Tagore THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

Was so sad to hear that Uncle John was ill. In every picture I have of him, he's wearing this huge grin, and I always think about how kind and soft spoken he was whenever we visited. I wished that our family had lived closer and that he could have been a bigger part of our lives. This world needs more men like John Wiggly. Condolences to Aunt Leslie, and all the cousins, Love Jo-Ann, Robert, Tyrel, Brandy and Penny, Jolene, Tucker and Ducati - Posted by: Jo-Ann Manning (nee Godfrey) (Niece) on: Sep 22, 2014
