ALFRED JOSEPH PICARD After a long and happy life the family wishes to announce the passing of Alfred "Fred" Picard on September 12, 2014 at the age of 91. Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and husband will be deeply missed by his wife of 67 years, Diane (nee Desilets), and children Roger (Helene), Gerry (Kim), Lloyd (Donna) and Jacqueline (Richard); grandchildren, Rachelle, Joel, Laurenne, Madison, Carson, Dennis, Claire, Danielle and Matthew. Also left to mourn are his sisters, Henriette, Jeanette (George) and Denise (Rene). Dad was born on April 28, 1923 to Adjutor and Marie Picard. He grew up and worked on the family farm in Fortier, MB until such time he became employed at Air Canada where he retired after 31 years. Dad was an avid sportsman and after having played golf into his mid 80's enjoyed watching every kind of sporting event on tv, especially his favourite team the Montreal Canadiens. Dad was a kind and gentle soul who loved his family dearly. He always had a smile for everyone he met and a joke or two along the way. Dad we will forever miss the twinkle in your eye and your wonderful sense of humour. The family wishes to extend their thanks to all those who took care of Dad while living at Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence. A Christian Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 25 at John XXXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Ave. Reception to Follow. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Dad's memory to a charity of your choice. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Fred was a great guy to work with at Air Canada, had a lot of fun, God Bless Fred your friend Dennis - Posted by: dennis forbes (work friend) on: Oct 06, 2014

  • Uncle Fred always had a smile on every time I saw him. I always will remember uncle Fred with his cleft in his chin. I have been told mine comes from the Picard side of the family. If that is so, he was the king. - Posted by: Jean-Louis Lamoureux (nephew) on: Sep 26, 2014

  • Alfred known as Fred is a gentle caring soul whose energy keeps going to accomplish what he would have loved to do while on this earth. He always made you feel good about yourself. When I was young going out with the gang made sure mom knew that he was looking afer me not to worry. The life of the party with his endless jokes again making everybody feel good. Though I did not visit as often as I would have liked I still felt close to him and will miss his physical presence. I`m sure God feels good with him around may he enjoy his well deserved place. God bless as we all love him dearly, Henriette - Posted by: Henriette Lamoureux (brother) on: Sep 21, 2014
