DOROTHY GRACE SMITH (nee MILBRATH) May 11, 1930 September 21, 2014 Hallelujah another saint has gone home to be with the Lord. Dorothy was born and raised in Calgary AB as a true cowgirl known as a jewel of Southern Alberta. She attended Western Canada High School and was one of the first women to graduate as a draftsman from SAIT. She met her husband Ross, an engineer, while working for Shell Oil. They moved to Palto Alto, CA where she drafted for Shell and Ross attended Stanford. She retired upon their return to Calgary to care for her mother and took up gardening. Finally they settled in Winnipeg to begin a wonderful relationship with the Richardson family and their company. Dorothy loved to entertain, play bridge, golf at St. Charles and winter in Palm Springs. She cheered on the Blue Bombers, especially the defence and her whistle was famous. She had a servant's heart for Jesus Christ and her Lord and Savior by supporting many Christian charities. Teaching Sunday School was her dream job. She is predeceased by her beloved Ross, brothers Avers and Jim and sister Betty. She leaves behind loving nieces, nephews and many close friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday September 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethesda Church, 1350 Grant Avenue. Special thanks to faithful caregivers Laddie, Josephine, Antholyn, Joy, Myrna, great-niece Quinn, Violet, homecare ladies, Dr. Kevin Friesen, Pam and Dr. H. da Silva. Donations may be made to Providence University College or Focus on the Family. Psalm 116: 15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. This is not goodbye my darling but so long.
