Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryESTELLE KRAWITZ Born Stella Frances Riddell in Frenchman Butte, SK, on July 4, 1928, Estelle Krawitz died in Victoria, BC on September 24, 2014, at the age of 86. She was married for 59 years to Gerald (who predeceased her by two years), was mother to Martin, David, Sherry, Laurence and Barry, and Savta to Robert and Lauren (Martin), Charlie and Molly (David and Chris), and Jamie (Barry). She was a cousin, sister-in-law and aunt to numerous Riddells and Galperns. She was predeceased by her father James Charles Riddell (1933), her mother Jeanne Noël Riddell (1983, née Blanc), and her younger brothers Joe (2005, Isabelle) and Jim (1992, Eleanor). She was raised from the age of five by her widowed mother in various locations across the prairies, mostly in Alberta (Edmonton, Edgerton, Consort), when times were frequently hard. She graduated from East Kildonan Collegiate in Winnipeg in 1945. She lived in Montreal in the early 1950s and was Miss TCA in both 1951 and 1952. In February of 1953, she married Gerald in Atlantic City, then lived in Winnipeg, where they raised five children, beginning on Campbell, then on Queenston, finally on Millikin. She worked for many years as a paralegal at the law office of Pollock Nurgitz. Estelle was a very organized and hard-working woman; she knew what had to be done and did it. She was a prodigious reader, a regular keeper of journals, and a loyal and comprehensive correspondent. Estelle invested a huge amount of energy in organizing large family dinners, welcoming many to her table. She spent several fine summers at the family cottage in Winnipeg Beach, even after moving to Victoria in retirement. Her final four years were spent at Beacon Hill Villa, where the gentle staff cared for her and Gerald with sensitivity and warmth. A memorial service will be held in Manitoba next summer. Estelle was a dynamic person who lived with great energy through all the highs and lows. She never pulled her punches, and you always knew where you stood. Her devotion and love for her family were constant and unconditional. Donations, if you wish, to a charity of your choosing, with gratitude.

Estelle & Gerald took John under their wing, when he first arrived at the campground. Then Val when she arrived. Continued our friendship when we moved to our home in Victoria. Spent many happy hours having barbecues at their trailer,(including the famous Lemon meringue pie), and them coming to dinner at our house. Many great discussions about all sorts of things. We miss them so much. - Posted by: John & Val Holden (Victoria) (Victoria Camppground then home friends) on: Oct 11, 2014
