Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBELLA WASALYNA KALENCHUK (nee SOPIWNYK) On Wednesday morning, September 24, 2014 Bella Wasalyna passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg at the beautiful age of 91. Bella will be fondly remembered and lovingly missed by her husband Dmytro (Dan) of over 70 years; three daughters, Mary Jane, Theresa (Donnie), and Patricia; grandchildren, Mark (Laureen), Larysa (Dan), Stefan (Anna), Josh (Ciarra), Paul, Tim (Jasmin), Ariel, Jenna (Reymar), Carmella (Amaury), Nina (Taylor), and great-grandchildren, Kelson, Riley, Alyssa, Hudson, Cedar, Joshua, and Manuel, and her brother, Peter (Mary). Bella was born on September 21, 1923 to her parents Tekla (Stasiuk) and Ivan Sopiwnyk in Caliento, MB. Bella was a longtime member of Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church. For many years, she led the rosary prayers in her parish. She was a woman of great faith, which gave her strength and wisdom. She took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens. As an avid seamstress, she sewed many clothes for her children and others. The family would like to thank Dr. Melnyk and staff in the 4th Floor Family Medicine unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Parastas prayer service will be sung 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 28 and Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 29 at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, located at 505 Watt Street (Watt & Munroe). Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Research Centre and/or the Bishop Velychkovsky Martyr's Shrine.
