PETER BILAWKA It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Peter Bilawka, on October 3, 2014 in Sidney, BC. Peter was born in Rossburn, MB in 1935 and began his teaching career in a local schoolhouse in Ruthenia and then Roblin, MB. He moved to Winnipeg in 1962 to further his career and begin his family life. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and volunteering in the church while doing what he loved best: teaching. In his spare time, Peter maintained a beautiful garden. Whether it was imparting advice or lending a helping hand, Peter was always there with a smile. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 52 years, Sonia; daughter, Patrice; son, Derryl (Ebony); grandchildren Piper and Bryston; his brother, Matt, and his sisters, Mary and Eva. Predeceased by parents Wasyl and Nellie, brothers Joe, Bill, Mike, and sisters Anne and Daisy. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted in Peter's name to the Alzheimer Society, Manitoba.
