BASIL MAYNARD COLE After battling heart, lung and cancer, Basil Maynard Cole, passed away at Seven Oak Hospital on Monday, January 21, 2013. He left behind his loving wife Shirley of 46 years. He was predeceased by his father Basil Cole, mother Rose Cole and two sisters, Gladys Black and Marjorie Myles. Cremation has taken place. An ash burial took place at Brookside Cemetery on Friday, September 5, 2014 attended by relatives and close friends. He was born November 17, 1929 in Winnipeg and graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. He was a friendly, smiling man who liked people and had an excellent memory for faces and names. Basil liked cameras and always had one with him. He worked for TCA/Air Canada in Winnipeg in the electrical department and in 1971 was transferred to Montreal, where he worked for 20 years, until he retired, then returned to Winnipeg. Basil loved the outdoors, airplanes, cars, both new and antique. He won a model plane contest in Canada and competed in the United States. He built a snowmobile, fished and hunted in Manitoba and Alberta. Basil was a handyman and had every tool imaginable. He loved his yard and spent many hours tending his flowers, garden and lawn entering various vegetable contests, won ribbons. He even enjoyed clearing snow.
