EILEEN DERMODY It is with profound sadness we announce that Eileen Dermody passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at St. Boniface Hospital. Eileen's memory will be forever cherished by her children Chris (Sherri Jessiman), Brent (Fatima Tavares), Kim (Bonnie Kallert) and Karen (Lorne) Cruise; grandchildren Sabrina, Erin, Sasha, Jordan, Braden, William and Graham; sister Olive and brother Melvin. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Edward, parents Lily and Edward, Aunt Minnie and siblings Elsie, Walter, and Doris. Mom was born on August 31, 1929 in Cartwright, MB. Her early career included working for Eaton's and MacLeods in Winnipeg before marrying Dad in 1953. They moved to Brandon in 1962 where they raised their family, worked and ran a restaurant business. Following retirement, they made the move back to Winnipeg to be closer to family. Mom had a gentle, warm, loving personality and enjoyed hosting company. As such, our home was a gathering place where all of our friends were always welcome. She was very artistic and found many enjoyable outlets for her talents including painting, crafting and ceramics. She cherished family above all and was extremely proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Mom, we love you so much and can't imagine you not being there to listen to our stories and share in our lives. You showed us unending love in everyday moments. We will miss you enormously but are thankful you are at peace. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and the Palliative care team involved in her care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to all the family. Eileen and Ed were wonderful neighbours to us when we moved to Brandon from Ireland. Always warm and gracious and our children, very young at the time, loved them both. We saw Eileen a couple of years ago and were struck as to how strong and capable she was, given all her health issues, even since Ed's passing. She was so proud of all her children and grandchildren and recalled all the little details of what was going on in their lives. A wonderful person. We feel privileged to have known Eileen. We will always remember her. A special place in our hearts. - Posted by: David, Doreen, Philip, Christopher, Nicole and Lauren Fitzpatrick (Neighbours and friends for many years) on: Oct 18, 2014
