ALINE ROLANDE DANIS (née FILLION) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Aline Danis. Surrounded by loved ones, Mom passed away on October 11, 2014 at Foyer Valade. She is lovingly remembered by her six children Suzanne (Perry), Paul (Maria), Annette (Brad), Léon, Michel (Lauren) and Joël, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her passing siblings Jeannette, Yvonne, Adèle (Rhéal), René (Marguerite), Claude (Paulette), Aimé (Simone), Jeannine, Louise, Guy (Lise), as well as nieces, nephews and in-laws. Mom was predeceased by the love of her life Maurice Danis, and her parents Célanire and Adélard Fillion. Mom was born on the homestead in St. Jean-Baptiste on May 16, 1940 and moved to Winnipeg as a young woman. Her journey included teaching in a one-room school, managing a Caisse Populaire, starting her real estate company with our father, selling real estate for over 25 years, serving as president of a Toastmasters club, co-founding an outreach program for women in need, singing, directing choir at church, and above all raising and caring for her family. Mom will be remembered for her warm smile and joie-de-vivre. She was known for starting up conversations with absolutely anyone anywhere and had a knack for putting people at ease. Her adventurous and fearless attitude motivated her to pursue her dreams and encouraged others to do the same. A celebration of Aline's life will take place on Monday, October 20 at la Paroisse des Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens with Father Isaie Blanchette officiating. Prayers, 10:30 a.m., Eulogy 10:45 a.m., Mass 11:00 a.m., with reception to follow immediately afterwards. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to do so make donations in Aline's memory to a charity of their choice.

  • Suzanne, I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing and send my heartfelt condolences. When I saw your dear mother's picture in the newspaper I couldn't help but notice how much you look like her. Also the quote "She was known for starting up conversations with absolutely anyone anywhere" also reminded me of you and your sweet outgoing personality. Your Mom's memory will live on forever within you. My deepest sympathy to all of your family. Wanda Brockie - Posted by: Wanda Brockie (We met at Foyer Valade ) on: Oct 22, 2014

  • Dear Sister, How you suffered for oh so long, until the day you went home where you belong. The memories of you will be locked in my mind. We will still visit from time to time. You fought every day while you laid there unable to see any light. I held your hand and brushed your hair, while whispering to you that I’ll always be there, and held on to you so tight. The disease took everything you had. I feel so very sad. You left this world with dignity and grace. Forever in my heart you will have a huge place. I miss you big sister, Your suffering is done… Go play, Go walk, but most important…Go run…and be with your sweetheart. I love you, Louise - Posted by: Louise (sister) on: Oct 18, 2014
