SHIRLEY ANNE JOHNSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt at St. Boniface Hospital on October 15, 2014. Shirley was born at the Gimli Hospital on November 24, 1951. She grew up in Fraserwood and raised her family in Gimli. Mom is predeceased by her parents Minnie and Anthony Pomarenski and an infant daughter. She is survived by her loving husband Gerald and their children: Jeff (Joanne), grandchildren Madison and Aidan; and Shannon (Chris), grandchildren Joshua and Ceanna. She also leaves devoted sisters, Sharon (Doug) Thordarson and Theresa (Laugi) Johnson; sister-in-law Shirley (Michael) Michaluk; and mother-in-law Inga Johnson. Along with many loving nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat Persia. Mom was an amazing cook; she made the best perogies and always made sure there was plenty to eat. She loved spending time with family and watching her grandchildren in sports and Ukrainian dance. She was an avid Bomber fan. Mom you will be forever missed! Mom's health declined the last few years. We saw her struggle, but she always remained strong and concerned for everyone else! We are truly thankful for all the wonderful staff and the care mom received at the Gimli Health Centre and St. Boniface Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 21 at 10:30 a.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the Fraserwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation.
