CORNELIA (van der Toorn) DEN HEYER September 12, 1920 - October 14, 2014 With great sadness, we announce the death of Cornelia (Cory) den Heyer who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Poseidon Care Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 94 years. Cory was born in The Hague, Netherlands. She immigrated to Canada in 1954. In the 1960's, Cory and her family owned and operated the Gateway Drive-In in East Kildonan. Cory was predeceased by her husband Dirk and her siblings in the Netherlands. She is survived by her three sons: Ken (Isabel) Nova Scotia, Theo (Judy) and Dick (Debra) of Winnipeg; grandchildren: Kent, Nell, Molly and Elise; and great-grandchildren: Violet, Arianna and Austin. A private family service will take place in Winnipeg. In her and her late husband's memory, a plaque will be placed at Pier 21 in Halifax, their place of entry to Canada. The family would like to thank the Poseidon Care Centre staff for their compassionate care of Cory over the past three years.
