AGNES VERMETTE (nee AUDETTE) October 21, 1920 - October 12, 2014 Peacefully, our mother passed on Sunday, October 12 at the Victoria Hospital at 93 years of age. Agnès is survived by six children; Thérèse (Leo), Henry (Leanne), Doris, Lynne (Daniel), Denise (Mark) and Louise, 11 grandchildren; Claudette, Michelle, Jodi, Susan, Diane, Dennis, Debbie, Leanne, Shawna, Daniel and Kristina, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She will be missed as well by her siblings Alice, Louise, Yvonne and Marcel. Agnès was predeceased by her husband Lucien, daughter Eveline (Mario), son Louis and grandson Christopher. Mom and Dad were married May 29, 1943. They began their lives together on a farm in Morris, MB. Three years later, they moved to Carey, MB and raised eight children ending with, to everyone's surprise, a set of twins. Mom was a devout Roman Catholic francophone and raised her children the same. Mom and Dad were successful in mixed farming. They were known for large vegetable gardens which helped nourish the family. Mom's love for nature was only surpassed by her love for her family. She was known for her delicious tourtière, sucre à la crème, as well as an avid seamstress and "slipper" knitter. Our parents were able to provide their children with wonderful memories of summer vacationing in Winnipeg Beach. Upon retirement, Mom and Dad moved to St. Vital and began holidaying in Mexico, Florida and the East and West Coasts. At Mom's request, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service has been held. Special thanks to Windsor Park Place, Poseidon Personal Care Home and St. Norbert Nursing Home as well as the caring staff on the 5th floor at Victoria Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

- Posted by: Lise & Gilbert Ruest (Niece and husband) on: Oct 18, 2014
