Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN SMACZYLO (nee KRYWKO) It is with great sadness that our family announces on October 15, 2014 our beloved Mom and Baba passed away suddenly, but peacefully, and surrounded by her family. Born in Ukraine, Jean and her beloved husband Steve journeyed to Canada in 1948. Her love, kindness, and food will be sorely missed by all. Nothing made her happier than her garden and feeding everyone at family gatherings. Baba was happiest rejoicing over the successes and details of all her grandchildren's lives. Jean was deeply saddened by the passing of her husband in 2005, and although her family will miss her dearly we know that her husband Steve has welcomed her with open arms. Jean is survived by her sons Al, Horace (Mandy); daughters, Nellie (Hans) and Sylvia (Brian); grandchildren, Terry, Sabrina, Brittany, Alexandra, and Dustin; and great-grandchild Chastity. In addition, family reaching all the way to Ukraine and Germany will also miss her. Prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 22 at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Volodymyr and Olha, 115 McGregor St. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Donations in Jean's memory may be made to Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Cathedral.
