MARNIE LETCHFORD Sadly our family announces the passing of our mother and grandmother on Friday, October 17, 2014 following a long illness. Mom was born on May 29, 1927 in Winnipeg and lived her entire life in the city she loved. She was married to Stewart Millett for 38 years and raised four children. She was a devoted mother, an artist, loved to entertain and was an extraordinary hostess making all feel welcome. A talented artist, she was a member of St. James Art club for many years. A variety of organizations benefitted from Mom's hours of volunteer work including the St. James Y, the Kinsmen School, Kinette Club of Winnipeg, the Red River Ex and different school organizations. She spent many happy hours playing bridge with lifelong friends and during her five years at Sturgeon Creek. Four years after Dad's death, she married George Letchford and they spent ten happy years together before he passed away. During her married life, she was fortunate to be able to spend over 30 years at Lake of the Woods. Travelling the world, visiting friends and family along the way was enjoyed by Mom throughout her life. Remaining to forever cherish Mom's life are her four children- Jean (Steve), Sue (Gerry), Beth (Wolfgang), and Clint (Shelley) and Clint's former wife Janet; as well as her ten grandchildren and the ever growing number of great-grandchildren, and her stepchildren- Bob (Barbara), Marilyn (Chris) and their families. She was predeceased by her stepson, Tom. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to her loyal friend, Cec Southgate whose regular visits were a bright spot in Mom's days. Thanks also to the staff at Sturgeon Creek and home care. So many of the wonderful staff at Charleswood Care Centre and Golden West Centennial Lodge provided loving care to Mom. Their sense of humour, positive attitude and gentleness made her last years more bearable. We can't thank you enough. A celebration of Marnie's life will occur at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you so wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com
