ARNOLD SVEN PEDERSEN November 16, 1938 - October 16, 2014 One of Manitoba's builders has passed. Arne leaves behind his beloved wife Lynne, daughter Ingrid (Jon, Jake and Kari), son Buzz (Rhonda, Annika and Stephanie), and many nieces, nephews and friends. His talent as a grandfather and uncle is unequaled. Arne grew up in Temiskaming, Quebec, the seventh of eight children of Ingrid and Sven Pedersen who emigrated from Norway. He is survived by one brother, Raymond. He was the first of his family to attend University. He attended Queen's University in Kingston and received his Engineering Degree in 1963. Arne came west in 1963 to work for the Provincial government as a Ground Water Engineer. He fell in love with Lynne and the prairies and never looked back. A significant portion of the people and animals of Manitoba have drinking water from wells Arne installed over a 45 year career! His efficient maps, techniques and calculations leave Manitoba in good hands. The "King of the One-Page Report" has retired for good. Arne was a man of integrity, kindness, and compassion. His coaching rules of 'All kids get equal playing time' and 'Clap for a good play, even if it's from the other team' are lasting lessons for all. His welcoming Green Flag will now always be up. Dad approached his illness with stoicism and grace, and the same 'it is what it is' forward thinking attitude that defined his life. Arne, Dad, Morf, Farf and Uncle Pete, "we'll miss you! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to KidSport, Manitoba or CancerCare, Manitoba. A gathering to celebrate Arne's life will be held at the Southwood Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, October 21 at 2:00 p.m. If you knew him at all you will know to dress casually!

  • Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lynne and the family. My wife and I have fond memories about Arne and Lynne. We will always remember the invitation for a speckled trout dinner Arne extended to us shortly after I became employed with the Groundwater Section, Water resources Branch. It was so good. Our cordial relationship both professional and private, extended from 1966 to 1996, when I retired. These thoughts will always remain with me forever. We worked well together. He always treated me with fairness and respect. So long my friend. Neil and Luella Heppner (fellow civil servant) - Posted by: Neil Heppner (co-worker) on: Oct 22, 2014
