DAVID LOVALLO It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of David Lovallo Sr. on October 16, 2014. Dave is survived by the love of his life, Kay Lovallo his loving wife of almost seventy years. Cherishing his memory are his children, Michael (Patti), David Jr. (Susan), Linda (Chris), grandchildren Kevin (Robin), Lisa (John), Christine (Chris), Jennifer (Lonnie), Shawn, Katie (Ritchie), Cheryl (Steve) and Michelle (Steve), and great-grandchildren Jomar, Andrew, Nathan and James, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dave is predeceased by his parents Salvatricia and Vincenzio Lovallo, son Joseph, brothers John, Sam, Dom, and Charlie and sisters Cleo, Virgie and Sara. Dave was born in Sicily on March 22, 1922 and immigrated to Winnipeg as a child. He served in the armed forces during the Second World War. He took great pride in his job as a Carman at CPR's Weston Shops, retiring in 1982 after forty-two years of service. Dave was devoted to his family and loved to entertain with magic tricks and jokes. He enjoyed fishing at Lockport and East Selkirk and checking out the latest cars. Dave always worked towards improving himself and providing a loving and happy home for his family. He loved to play with his precious dogs, first Scottie and then Sunshine, discretely spoiling them with treats when he thought no one would see. We will miss you and always cherish your love and memory. A celebration of Dave's life will take place on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. Special thanks to the staff of the Victoria General Hospital, fourth floor south. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. • Just heard about the passing of Mr. Lovallo. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. - Posted by: Angie Berg () on: Mar 28, 2015

  • Our heartfelt sympathies go out to our dearest friend Kay and family. We were next door neighbours and Davey and Kay were truly the very best neighbours and friends we could ever wish for. We looked up to Davey for his know how about anything we needed help with and he willingly offered his time, his humor and magician skills. The beautiful memories and the love we shared during those "good old days" will always be etched in our hearts. • Like the others, I remember Mr. Lovallo as that kind man who always had time to talk to a young kid. A very rare quality back in the late 50s & early 60s. I was just one of the neighborhood kids in the old west end. I remember him frequently working under the hood of his car which I saw as my cue to have a chat with this automotive expert. It was never a bother to him and he always made me feel my questions were important. Davey and I were friends while Mike was my brother Reg's schoolmate. And Kay, you will remember we reconnected some many years later at Eaton's. I will always remember Mr. Lovallo as the really nice man who made me feel welcome in his yard whenever I came by. The kind of man I would have liked to have as my father. - Posted by: Wayne Pierce (Aquaintance) on: Oct 28, 2014

  • I am truly sorry to hear of Mr. Lovallo's passing. I remember meeting this man in the early 60's when they became our new neighbours. I introduced myself to Mr. Lovallo..who was hard at work in his garden. He stopped working..put on a big smile..introduced himself to me..which most adults in my life..at that time.. never did. Mr. Lovallo always treated me with respect and never once ever talked down to me which made me think I was kind of a special person..when I knew I wasn't. He was the kindest person..aside from my Grandfather..that I ever knew. I got to know his family very well...and loved them all. But it was that first meeting that still has an impact on me all these years later. I will never forget the feeling of being accepted as a friend on such short notice. I knew he was special from the very first day. To Mrs. Lovallo..Davey..Mike and Linda, I will always keep you in my heart for as long as it beats. You accepted me into your family and I will never forget that. Love Don xoxo - Posted by: Don Rose (friend) on: Oct 22, 2014

  • Remembering a sweet, kind, funny, wonderful human being, and these are but only a few words that describe Dave. We used to love his wit and interesting stories. Although we hadn't seen him for a long time, he will always be remembered. Our sincere sympathy goes to Kay and family at this sad time. - Posted by: Lori King and Keith Blackburn (friend) on: Oct 22, 2014
