Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRV SLUSKY After a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease, on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Victoria General Hospital, at the age of 85 years. Irv is survived by his wife Lucille (nee Schwartz), his sons Mark and Alan (Andrea), and his three grandchildren Lauren, Noah, and Matthew. Irv is also survived by his brother Mort. Irv was predeceased by his father Max and mother Rae (Rice). Irv was born June 5, 1929 in Winnipeg and received his early education at Aberdeen school, progressing with many of his classmates to St. John's Tech where he graduated in 1947. Irv worked at a variety of jobs early in his life including delivering the Winnipeg Tribune, working for Boston Clothing and Holt Renfrew, and on the CNR road crew. In 1948 Irv entered law school and was called to the bar in 1953. Thereafter he and his brother Mort practiced together. A highlight of his career was in 2005 when Irv (and others) was honoured by the Law Society of Manitoba for a long and distinguished 50 year career as a lawyer in Manitoba. The family has been touched by so many former clients and colleagues who have expressed fond memories of their relationships with Irv. Irv's reputation as a caring and ethical practitioner was so important to him. In addition to thoroughly enjoying his law career, Irv spent countless hours on the golf course enjoying his favorite pastime. From Spring to first snowfall Irv enjoyed nothing more than a round of golf with close friends. Irv also enjoyed traveling, and times spent at Clear Lake and Palm Springs serve as warm memories for Lucy, his children, and both friends and relatives they visited. In his final years although his illness slowly took from him his wit and vitality, he remained responsive to close friends and the occasional Yiddish phrase which could always bring forth a smile. A graveside service was held at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery on October 24, 2014. Pallbearers were Noah and Matthew Slusky, Howie Schwartz, Jeff Slusky, Howard Jesierski, and Cory Shapiro. A heartfelt thank you to Irv's companions Paulina and Virgie, who helped take such good care of him over his time at the Simkin Centre. A thank you to the whole staff of the Simkin Centre as well. Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice, or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

I am really sorry to hear Irv has passed. I worked for him (and Mort) for close to 10 years and even though its been almost 30 years since then -- it seems like yesterday. To this day I still mention the Slusky brothers as being two of the most caring and honest lawyers I know. Rest in peace, Irv. - Posted by: Sharon Baril (former employee) on: Oct 24, 2014
