BONNIE SUE BILESKI (nee LYON) November 19, 1941 - October 23, 2014 Bonnie Bileski passed away on October 23, 2014. Bonnie was predeceased by her mother, Hattie Irene Nauss of Lunenburg County, NS; her father George Wesley Lyon, her brother, Evan Bruce Lyon of Terrace, BC; and her beloved daughter, Kelly Colleen Shearer of Winnipeg who died on June 14, 2007 in Toronto, ON. Bonnie is survived by her son Randall (Randy) Bileski. Bonnie was a person of many interests, abilities and accomplishments. She was born in Winnipeg and received her education in Winnipeg and Edmonton. She held varying positions in accounting, management and property management as well as owning three businesses. Her work took her from Winnipeg to England, to northern Manitoba, to California and back to Winnipeg. She travelled across Canada in the course of her work and retired as Senior Realty Advisor from the Department of National Defence in 2004. Among her many interests Bonnie collected antiques to furnish her log cabin at Bird River where she enjoyed family and friends. She took great pride in her beautiful flower gardens, each year adding new Manitoba plants. She enjoyed cooking, barbequing and baking and especially the companionship of her many friends. Her greatest passion was genealogy. She had great success researching family in England, Scotland, Ireland and Germany. Through her generosity of sharing information with people around the world, she met and took great pleasure in having some of them visit her at her home. She, in turn, travelled to visit some of them, always returning with more genealogical treasures. When she was able, she freely volunteered her time to various genealogy venues and individuals. Sadly, in 2011, Bonnie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She faced it with courage and dignity, finding strength in her faith and in the kindness of the people who helped her cope with its progression. Bonnie deeply appreciated the compassionate care from the CancerCare staff. She felt thankful for the wonderful support received from the staff at Lindenwood Terrace and for all the love and kindness of her Lindenwood "family". Special thank you to the Staff of 5 North at the Victoria General Hospital for the great care over the last few weeks. In accordance with Bonnie's wishes there will be no formal funeral. Those who wish may make a donation to the charity of choice. Private interment will be at Thompson in the Park.

Randy - I am so very sorry to hear your Mother Bonnie has passed away. Thank you to Dave's mother Jessie who called and informed me. Bonnie had many trips to Nova Scotia where we would spend time together especially Lunenburg where her mother and my father were born. On work related trips she would stay with us and we had many long conversations/ and laughs. I was fortunate to visit Winnipeg on two occasions and we enjoyed "the Forks" and the park area by Royal Oakes. Bonnie you are now with Esther (Kelly). My sincere condolences. - Posted by: wendy gracie (cousin Nova Scotia) on: Dec 21, 2014

I was fortunate enough to work with Bonnie at 17 Wing when she was employed at Wing Properties. She was a bundle of energy, a force of nature; always dedicated to achieving the best results while wearing a smile. She has been missed for the last ten years since her retirement. My sympathies are with her family and friends. - Posted by: Michele Geiger-Wolf (Colleague) on: Nov 04, 2014

My deepest and sincerest condolences to friends of Bonnie and our family especially Randy my cousin. I will always remember Bonnie with love and thanks as the picture she gave me with the bunnies is always on my wall after she helped to look after my bunny with grandpa. She will forever be in my heart. I'll never forget the time we did spend together. I thank her for her kindness and thoughtfulness. She opened her heart and home for me when I did visit and if I ever needed it after I graduated university and needed a place to start she let me know it was there. Warmer BC ended up becoming my place of residence along with Mom and Derek, Grandma and Grandpa. much healing and care to all of you in this time of sorrow. I am so sorry to hear of Bonnie's passing. Although I didn't know Bonnie in person, we had several emails and phone calls while we discussed her genealogy research. I, along with another friend, was going to help her with her research so she could get it published before she passed away. Sadly, that wasn't to be. May she rest in peace. :) If Randy would like to contact me when he is ready, we can discuss how we can attend to her wishes regarding her genealogy. - Posted by: Pamela Wile (Friend) on: Oct 26, 2014

I just met Bonnie this past year when she joined our genealogy society here in Arizona. She jumped right in, getting involved. What a joy it was to know her, even though her time here was short. My condolences to her friends and family. - Posted by: Dee Snook (Genealogy friend) on: Oct 26, 2014

So sorry to hear about Bonnie's passing. I met Bonnie when her daughter Kelly was a patient on our ward. She was such an advocate for her and I know her heart was broken when she lost her dear Kelly. Take comfort in that they are together again. - Posted by: Tracy (Heppner) on: Oct 26, 2014
